What Everybody Ought to Know about Selling

Do you sell products or services online and offline?

Or you wants to be one, but you haven't get started yet?

Well I'm going to give you just a strategy to increase your sales.

But more on that in a moment.

Do you know many business today still engages in traditional ways of selling but want to earn like the modern sellers.

Hypocrisy at its peak, it's just like expecting rain on a January.

Let me walk you through the etymology of the word traditional.

Come closer pal, I mean closer, yeah!
It originated from a latin word called "tradere"....

which means hand over or hand down.
Enough of the history class.

Now let's implement friend,
So traditional ways of selling simply means techniques that worked 400 years ago, that is being passed down from one generation to another.

So my friend, some techniques in selling are outdated, they no longer work as at today.
But many still hold unto them.

So this brings us to the strategy, not just one tho, there are varieties of them.

I would try touch all in subsequent posts.
Before then, instead of sticking to traditional way of selling, why not make a Swift change to the modern way of selling.

For instance,

Advertise on the internet,

When I say advertising.....

i don't mean that your business banner, or poster or your business card.

I don't mean that banner with a Nollywood actor holding a cutlass selling frozen foods.
I don't mean that Cliche writings on the wall, that goes thus;
Food is ready....

No credit today, come tomorrow,
Offer lasts which stock lasts..........

Alright enough of this, I'll just leave you with this.

I mean the real deal on the internet.

You need to know how to run facebook ads, Instagram ads.........

When you know how to run one.......

You wake up every morning to an inbox full.......

of notifications from people breaking into your Dm and mail.

Selling becomes easier,
You don't have to worry about rushing down to shops to attend to customers,

Instead of you being a slave to your business.
Business becomes fun.

Here's a quick steps to run a Facebook ads,

You need to create a page.

Then, you warm your page with few contents,

Do your market research,

Target your audience.

Then you run ads as low as #2000 or above.

Ever wonder why people pay thousands of dollars for copywriting?

Yes I mean copywriting!

I'll show you a textbook example of what differentiates a copywriter from a product/service seller with no copywriting skills.

I saw a video recently of a visually impaired man (blind) who sat at a strategic location where a lot of people do pass frequently.

The man's objective was to beg for alms. With that location, he is more likely to get alms from people. He held on to a sign board which reads "I am blind, please help".

He got few alms from people but, the result wasn't quite encouraging. Then a passer-by walked close to the man, collected the sign board and change the content of the sign board. Boom! that was the magic! He got a whole lot of alms from people.

What was the magic? The passer-by simply changed the "I'm blind content" to "It's a beautiful day and I can't see it".

What's the difference between the two contents? It's simply copywriting skills. The "I'm blind content" is common everywhere while the latter is unique.

You can have the best product of this world, if you aren't persuasive enough with your words, you would probably get low sales.

Myth of Marketing! That's the topic that comes to my mind. Before doing justice to the topic in subsequent posts. I'll educate you all about Marketing.

Marketing according to Merriam Webster Dictionary is the action or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising.

Now let's explain it a bit. You have a product of yours and you want people to know about such product, you "market" it.

The misconception we all have about Marketing is that it's not limited to you creating awareness about one's product. Marketing also means promoting your services, skills, your innate abilities ( talent ) to "people of interest".

You'd notice I enclosed people of interest in a scare quote in the previous paragraph because It's so important. It's one of the end result of market research and advertising. I'll give an instance, you are an upcoming musician here in Nigeria, then, you go into Rock music. Tho, you might have good lyrics and contents, but is it of interest to Nigerians? No.

You want to sell products or services, it's important to do little research about your potential market and watch how your sales grow!
