BREAKING: Police Rescue Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons Alive; Two Kidnappers Killed
The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a coordinated rescue operation on Saturday evening.
According to security sources, the victims were freed at about 7:30 p.m. during a tactical operation that led to a fierce gun battle between police operatives and the kidnappers. Two suspected members of the gang were neutralised, while two fi****ms were recovered from the scene.
Mrs. John-Paul and her children were abducted on June 3, 2026, while she was reportedly taking the boys to school in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Police sources disclosed that intelligence gathering and sustained pressure on the criminal network forced the kidnappers into a confrontation with security operatives, resulting in the successful rescue of the victims.
Security agencies have since launched a manhunt for other members of the gang who escaped during the operation, with reports suggesting some may have sustained gunshot wounds.
The rescue comes days after widespread concern over the abduction, which drew reactions from top government officials, including Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who had earlier assured the family that security agencies were intensifying efforts to secure the victims’ release.
The incident had heightened fears across Oyo State, coming just weeks after the abduction of dozens of students and teachers in Orire Local Government Area.
The rescued victims are reported to be safe, while investigations and efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects continue.
