I thought it important to refresh some basic but frequently misplaced meta terminologies.

* Meta business account: A type of account that connects and centralises business assets, such as pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts and product catalogues across Meta technologies so that people can manage these assets together as a unified online business.

* Ad account: An account used for managing ads across Meta technologies, which allows advertisers to create ads and advertising campaigns, pay for ads, and see insights and analytics.

* Page: A product that lets people and businesses create a presence on Facebook and connect with the Facebook community. Every advertiser will need to have a page created before they can advertise.

* User account: A user account, or personal account such as a Facebook account or Instagram account, is the account of the specific person who is advertising using an ad account. Enforcements on a user account affect whether the person can use business assets.

If you try to run ads using your prepaid ad account and you see a message that says ‘update spending limit’ the most likely reason is that the budget of the ad you’ve set is more than the amount remaining in your prepaid ad account. Two solutions:

1.) increase the amount in your prepaid
2.) or reduce the ad budget (remember also that ads have a VAT that will add to the total charges)

The spending limit error may also occur when you try to ‘boost again’ a post you have boosted before. Why this happens is linked to the first reason. It may be that the first time you ran the ad, the budget exceed the current balance in your prepaid and the ad will not run because ‘boost again’ will use the exact same setup and budget as the ad used to run before.

Hope this helps someone 🙂

A lot of people struggle with multiple restrictions in the pages linked to their Instagram and usually want to make the excuse that they don’t use the page. 🤓 well as long as you’re running ads on Instagram, your linked page’s quality plays a role in your ad’s acceptance or rejection.

The following list includes the things that can affect a Page's ability to advertise:

- Ad rejections: multiple ad rejections and continually trying to run ads despite warnings

- Attempts to evade or deceive Facebook enforcement/policies

- Deceptive or inauthentic behaviour

- Suspicious or violating behaviour between associated accounts

- A Page's age may affect advertising

For pages less than a year old:
If your Page's score drops below 2, it won't be allowed to advertise

This is why your page needs to be setup correctly with accurate information and needs to be active and up to date at every point in time. Dm is always open for questions and enquiries.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about this. Can a permanently disabled ad account be fixed?

As much as you don’t want to hear it, the answer to that is NO, permanently disabled ad accounts cannot be fixed.

It’s a permanent decision from the Facebook team and no other trouble shooting or manual processes can undo it.

Solution: only a new or existing active setup can work, new ad account, new business manager etc.

Also most times people come up with the idea that new Facebook accounts cannot run ads, I’m here to debunk that; a well setup Facebook account will run ads perfectly. However it will take a while for the ad account to pickup fully as it takes a little time to learn your business and what works for your adverts unlike an old ad account.

Recycling this information because of the confusions that still exist in the difference between a postpaid and prepaid ad account so I’ll clear the air once again

POSTPAID AD ACCOUNTS require you to SAVE a card to Instagram/Facebook for the card to be billed at a certain date or when you have reached a certain threshold.

PREPAID AD ACCOUNTS do not require adding a card and have a PAYU naira payment gateway which allows you to use your card off the Facebook platform to fund any amount you wish to use as budget for your ads while they deduct your daily ad spend from what you have funded. Gives your card more security and makes payment easier.

Hope this information helps someone 🙂

When you create a new ad account it is safer to not use the same payment card as on a previously flagged ad account

Why: because if the card on the previous ad account was flagged for ‘fraudulent’ activities, it’ll be flagged on the new account as well.

You will likely see a message asking to ‘Verify payment method’ on the ad account and most times, Naira cards are unable to complete this verification process.

PS: This is usually for postpaid ad accounts

Exception: if you use a prepaid ad account with the payU as method of payment then your card will be exempt from Facebook scrutiny. Which is why it is always imperative never to add a card to the prepaid payment method

Lately it seems as though Instagram has been on a suspension and disable rampage with the number of disable complaints I’ve received in the past two weeks. While I would strictly not advice anyone to pay anyone to pay anyone to ‘bring back’ their Instagram account, here are some steps you can take when your account gets suspended or disabled (a suspension would usually come initially before a disable which is then permanent);

First of all you may be disabled for 2 reasons

1.) “Suspended because you didn’t follow Instagram community guidelines. If you think your account was disabled by mistake, you may be able to ask us to review the decision by opening the app, entering your username and password and following the on-screen instructions.”

In this case, you might have the option to appeal the decision by submitting a selfie of yourself with your name, a code sent to your phone number and your Instagram username. Or, in some cases, to verify your identity.

Pro Tip: Ensure that the picture you send is clear, unedited, and not flipped.

The review process can take up to two business days, and you will not have access to your account during this time. If your appeal is approved, you will receive an email from Instagram at the associated email address you provided with a link to reset your password.
If your appeal is denied, reason is Instagram denied your request and your account disabled - you will get an email that “Instagram has reviewed your request, however, the account has been found to go against Instagram Terms of Use and community standards” and while trying to log in, you’ll get the following message - “Your account has been permanently disabled because it didn't follow our Community Guidelines. This decision can't be reversed either because we've already reviewed it or because 30 days have passed since your account was disabled.”

The only other option after this or along side this would be to fill the forms in these links (you can request the link in dm). However this is NOT a guarantee that you will get your account back, chance is 40/100

CAN YOU RETRIEVE MONEY FROM A DISABLED PREPAID AD ACCOUNT?

Unfortunately NO ❗️There is no means yet to get a refund or reimbursement from and ad account that has been disabled however there is a means to retrieve newly funded money from an a healthy and active ad account in the case of ad rejection (it’s quite a lengthy process through 😅 so I would discuss that some other time).

As with disabled ad accounts again, refund or withdrawal is not possible. Facebook will keep your funds as it is deemed that you have violated policies or regulations.

Sometimes getting disabled may seem inevitable (I’ll discuss reasons for restrictions and how to avoid them in a letter post) so I always advice the following
1.) Do not fund a lot of money into an ad account at once
2.) Fund as much as you need to use at one go - if you want to run ads next week or next month, no need to be funding it now
3.) Most importantly, DO NOT ADD A DEBIT/CREDIT CARD TO A NAIRA PREPAID AD ACCOUNT
4.) Always ensure to have minimum funds in the ad account at the end of every successful ad

You should be safe with your funds if you follow the above pieces of advice 🤓

Super popular question here! 🤓 What is the best minimum amount to spend on your ads? Most Instagram accounts peg minimum ad spend at $1 per day (which is about N700 - N900 naira per day) In some cases some Instagram accounts are still able to do half of that (about N450 naira per day).

To answer the question however, there isn’t a generally agreed perfect minimum amount to spend on your ads. Here’s why; ad spend is relative, relative to the business type, platform and of course the goals of you the business owner 🙂 . So the first question to ask is ‘what are you trying to achieve with your ad and how much people are you trying to reach.
This alone tells you that you would not want to use a stringent budget if you’re trying to reach hundreds or thousands of people, or trying to sell so many products or even create awareness for your business for the next three months.

Other constraints might exist such as pocket limits or timeframe limit. If you are not very buoyant in the amount set aside for your budget, you should adjust the dynamics of your ad to fit into your budget. 🤓 Also if you have a short time to gather registrations for an event or any activity of that sort then you would want to pump in a heavier budget to make up for the short time (given that your ad copy, content and target audience are tested and trusted, your money will work for you!)

All that being said, a great place to start testing out your ads is at N1000 per day or $2 per day. If your pocket allows then N2000 per day or $4 - $5 per day works, remember all this depending on the objective of your ad and timeframe, a smaller budget over a longer period of time and a larger budget for a shorter period.

❗️Remember, it’s not enough to just click boost post and boost anything, your content, copy and audience matter no matter how much you throw in. Bring out money and test your ads enough to know what works for your business and also remember to always allow your ads to build up enough (3 day’s minimum) before concluding as effective or ineffective.
