A world where a company executive can impress a nation's president with his high end business from across the pacific, armed with just his laptop, coffee mug and underwear. Ha ha ha!
This age is far more amazing than Spider-man.
Once upon the 80s a good brand had a throne and could just sit there and be worshiped by adoring fans (customers) worldwide.
Then as the mid 90s came along things started to heat up a bit as these royal brands had to get off their lofty thrones put on some sneakers to go intermingle and shake hands with the, now distracted, "fans" who once adored them.
But today brands have to manage a hectic to-do list get around with jet packs trying to get the "fans" and keep the "fans" interested.
And all thanks to the new way of the internet and social media.
Marketing, especially online, is now the full-time art, science, psychology and lifeblood of business existence, relevance and success.
For any business owner or brand to underestimate this would be as dangerous as challenging Mike Tyson to a fight just because you assume he hasn't still got it.
