MINISTER OF INTERIOR TUNJI-OJO STOPS PRINTING OF INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT IN ALL THE SOUTH EAST STATES.

Tension is mounting across Nigeria’s South East following reports that the region’s only passport production centre, located at the Nigeria Immigration Service zonal headquarters in Enugu, may be shut down, a development that could disrupt urgent travel plans for thousands of applicants.

Sources within the Nigeria Immigration Service, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, disclosed that passport production activities at the Enugu facility have allegedly been halted after a directive said to have originated from the Federal Ministry of Interior.

The centre currently serves Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo states, providing critical services, especially for emergency passport processing.

According to the source, a team of technical personnel believed to have arrived from Abuja began dismantling key passport production machines earlier in the day.

The removal of the equipment, if completed, would effectively end local passport issuance within the South East, forcing applicants to travel outside the region for urgent services.

Many applicants with immediate travel needs fear they may miss important deadlines if emergency processing is moved to Abuja, a shift that would increase transportation costs, delay timelines, and add pressure to an already stretched system.

Observers say the situation also raises broader questions about access to federal services and regional balance in public infrastructure.

Some stakeholders and community leaders have reportedly begun calling on political representatives from the South East to urgently engage with federal authorities and clarify the true status of the facility.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Ministry of Interior have not released any official statement confirming or denying the alleged shutdown.

The absence of formal communication has further fueled speculation, leaving applicants uncertain about the next steps.

For now, many residents remain on edge, hoping for swift clarification from authorities before any final decision is taken that could reshape passport processing across the region.

Cult initiation ends in fiasco as Akwa Ibom police arrest suspected Black Axe members

Police in Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State say they have arrested two suspected members of the Black Axe confraternity during an operation in the state capital, Uyo.

From information signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command said the arrests followed intelligence reports that a group of suspected cultists were carrying out initiation activities at a secondary school along Oron Road. The operation took place at about 4:30pm on Saturday, 1 February 2026.

According to the police, officers moved to the location after receiving the tip-off, but the suspects fled on sighting the patrol team, abandoning a red mini-bus. A chase followed, leading to the arrest of two male suspects identified as Anitie Isaac and Unyime Effiong.

Items recovered at the scene included an axe, a brown calabash, a bottle of alcoholic drink, various incense materials, coloured handkerchiefs and a sticker linked to the Neo Black Axe movement.

The suspects and the recovered items are currently in police custody, where investigations are ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for cultism and related crimes, assuring residents that security agencies would continue efforts to rid the state of criminal groups.

Members of the public were urged to support the police by providing timely and credible information.

Breaking News
Traders in Onitsha markets, alongside banks, schools, and civil servants, have rejected the Anambra State Government's directive to resume normal activities on Monday, insisting on observing the sit-at-home protest.
According to sources within the commercial city, the Anambra residents insist that, they will continue to stay away from work and business on Mondays in solidarity with the ongoing agitation for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The traders and workers, who openly disowned Governor Chukwuma Soludo's assurance that there would be no sit-at-home in the state, maintained that only the release of Nnamdi Kanu would bring a permanent end to the Monday shutdown across the South-East.
They argued that repeated government statements have failed to address the root cause of the protest, stressing that fear, uncertainty, and loyalty to the cause have continued to shape their decision.
As of the time of filing this report, tension remains high in Onitsha, with many residents adopting a cautious approach ahead of Monday's activities. Security agencies are also said to be on alert as developments continue to unfold.

E done set

USA granted. Mazi nnamudi kanu citizenship

Do you know what that means??

To those who doesn't understand this grammar, it means that Mazi nnamdi kanu is now a US citizen, the Georgia State has awarded him USA citizenship... So with this ,the USA will have the legal right to demand for the release of her citizen from the Nigerian prison, either through diplomacy or militarily.

Here is the full detailed meaning of what it means for a us state to grant a non citizen a honorary citizenship.

So, in the US, honorary citizenship is a special recognition given by a state or the federal government to someone who's not a US citizen, acknowledging their outstanding contributions or achievements.

For a Nigerian to receive honorary citizenship from a US state, it means they've done something remarkable that's caught the attention of that state's government, like promoting cultural exchange, contributing to humanitarian work, or strengthening ties between the state and Nigeria.

It's not the same as full citizenship, and it usually doesn't come with the same rights and privileges. It's more like a symbolic gesture of appreciation and respect

Let me be clear from the start: I am not saying that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo was right to shut down the Onitsha Main Market, and I am also not saying he is right to force people to open their businesses on Mondays.

My concern is something else.

What I genuinely do not understand is why IPOB and some other voices are now saying that the governor should stop asking people to resume business until Nnamdi Kanu is released.

This is confusing to me, because for years now, since 2021 IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu himself have clearly distanced themselves from the Monday sit-at-home. This is not hidden information; the evidence is everywhere. In fact, the sit-at-home issue became one of the biggest reasons for the fallout between Simon Ekpa’s Autopilot group and the mainstream IPOB leadership.

While Simon Ekpa has continued to insist on enforcing sit-at-home every Monday, IPOB, through its Directorate of State (DOS), has repeatedly told Ndị Igbo to go about their normal businesses on Mondays. IPOB even issued statements asking people to completely ignore Simon Ekpa more than two years ago.

The DOS openly dissociated both IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from sit-at-home.

So my honest question is this: which IPOB is now warning Governor Soludo against reopening markets on Mondays?

I ask this because I have personally published many IPOB press releases over the years, especially those clearly rejecting Monday sit-at-home since 2021. That is why I am genuinely surprised by the current opposition to Soludo’s position.

People deserve clarity. We need to know who is speaking, in whose name, and with what authority, because mixed messages only deepen confusion and hardship for ordinary people who are just trying to survive.

U.S.–Nigeria bilateral trade has been a powerful engine for economic growth, job creation, and generational partnerships!

One standout contributor to this partnership is The Coca-Cola Company, which has invested an impressive $1.5 billion in Nigeria over the last decade. With plans for an additional $1 billion investment in the pipeline, the American multinational is set to boost production, strengthen supply chains, and enhance workforce training across the nation.

Coca-Cola has been refreshing Nigerians for 75 years?
