Our client is a medium sized manufacturing company focused on the production of polythene packaging materials. Their products include plain and branded carrier bags, shrink films, packing bags, waste bags and other bespoke packaging materials.
Due to business expansion, the company is urgently in need of experienced Production Manager with cognate experience in the production of similar products.
*Job position:*
Production Manager (Minimum of 5 years experience in production roles,not more than 40 years and must have a fair knowledge of machine maintenance.
*Location:* Mainland, Lagos. Egbeda / Iyana-Ipaja axis to be precise
*Reporting to:* CEO
*JOB SUMMARY*
The primary function of the Head of Production is to manage all operational aspects of the 2-shifts polythene plant which operates 24/7, ensuring the efficient scheduling of all production for the entire plant so that orders are met.
*Job functions*
Develop and manage the entire production team, ensuring direct labor is at appropriate level and well-trained.
Manage the housekeeping such that the plant is always clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Manage & participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the entire organization.
Develop, implement, manage and communicate plans to establish internal manufacturing within quality, production, and financial objectives.
Determine and manage human and material resources in order to meet production target.
Implement, enforce, and analyze quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives and correct detected
Develop, implement, and manage departmental standard work.
Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures.
Analyze and report department performance on production volume, cost, and quality.
Forecast, set, and manage production budgets and implement cost control programs.
Analyze and report to the Management the status of high priority jobs running in Production or issues deemed to be priority by the Management.
Plan and maintain resources for the production department (people, equipment, etc.) to ensure on-time attainment of production and service requirements at the best cost and highest quality.
Proactively identify and implement process and quality improvements and initiate corrective and/or preventive actions when out of compliance.
Schedule and manage the daily production team; set goals, monitor key performance indicators, hire staff, develop and document training plans to ensure employees are trained and in compliance with all procedures; coach and counsel to improve results, conduct ongoing performance appraisals
Liaise with employees and management teams to identify ways to continually foster and promote a positive work environment by direct involvement with all levels of employees
Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between Production and other relevant departments including Marketing, Inventory, Accounts & Admin.
Prepare weekly production reports which MUST be sent to Management .
*Qualification*
HND/BSc in any Engineering course is preferred. Candidates without engineering background but with cognate on the job experience can also apply.
