A Bold Reform to Reshape Nigeria's Revenue Collection!

The government is about to revolutionize revenue collection by creating a single entity, the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS). This new body will take over from over 60 revenue-generating agencies, centralizing tax and levy collection. Here’s why it’s a smart move:

Boosting Government Earnings: By consolidating revenue collection under one agency, the government aims to drastically improve efficiency and accountability.

No More Fragmentation: Agencies like Customs and NPA will now focus on their core mandates, while the NRS manages all revenue collection.

Digital and Transparent: In today’s electronic age, where payments are digital, this centralized approach makes sense and is fully achievable.

My take:
This is an A-rated policy! Centralizing revenue collection is a bold, necessary reform that will boost government earnings and streamline the system.

While Nigeria is great at innovating in revenue collection, we still need to do more to help businesses and individuals increase their income. It’s not just about collecting taxes—it’s about growing the economy!

I am an African and proud to be a Nigerian.

I am always inspired when I see innovations and entrepreneurial giants rise from Africa.

Despite the fact that we may not have a fully enabling environment to get this things done, people are doing it and that's what endears me the most to Nigeria.

it's an hard environment no doubt but it has great potential.

Do you know that 50% of the Nigerian 200 million citizens are under 18 years

This means we have a high dependant population.

This is both good and Bad

Good in the sense that if we can harness this, we can become great exporters of skilled labour

Nigeria currently contributes less than 3% to the global GDP

Are you seeing the opportunity now....?

We need to begin to train people for Jobs that actually exist not to just have a certificate.

Our Digital Agency, Av digital for now is purely a service oriented agency but we look forward to the time when we will begin to train young Nigerians to be skilled marketers thereby contributing our own quota to global Gdp.

How Great Companies Are Built

1. The most crucial is answering why your business needs to exist.

In AV digital (where I serve as team lead), a question we keep asking periodically is what market friction are we soothing?

It is also important to note that frictions are not static – they keep changing. So, that means, you need to be alert to know when the markets might have shifted

2. Accumulation of Capability
From the Clove illustration above, you notice he brought together a network of healthcare professionals and innovative designers having identified an existing market friction.

If you have discovered an opportunity you need to ascertain if you have the capability to operate therein.

This capability can be leadership, technical, managerial and more and you can choose to either acquire it or build a team with such capabilities.

3. Testing and Validating the Capability

These market frictions are such that they respond more to experience than high sounding theories.

This is what I mean..

The CEO of investment bank; Godman sachs didn't go to an IVY league schools, doesn't have a master/MBA but has a very rich experience having spent the better part of his post college working in such Institutions.

I am not taking a stand against education, As I am currently taking an MBA, all I am saying is you may need to take a job in a relevant company to test and validate through practical exposure what you have learnt.
