Nigeria incorporates Bridge OA to run its 90,000km fibre build, but the backbone was never the hard part

The company will be responsible for deploying 90,000 kilometres of open-access fibre infrastructure across all 774 local government areas, a project designed to expand broadband access, improve connectivity, and strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy. Structured as a public-private partnership, Bridge OA is expected to attract both local and international investment while providing shared infrastructure for telecom operators and Internet service providers.

If successful, the rollout could increase broadband pe*******on, connect rural communities, and extend Nigeria’s national fibre backbone to more than 120,000 kilometres. The project is also expected to support job creation, digital services, and economic growth by making high-speed Internet more accessible across the country.
