DAILY TONIC 2020 (Sunday January 19th)

Today : Intercessory Prayer

TODAY’S VERSE
“You are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.” II Corinthians 1:11 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul took intercessory prayer seriously. He knew the effect of sincere dedicated prayer on someone else’s behalf. He was constantly praying for the many churches he had planted and worked in. He tirelessly prayed for their needs and God answered his prayers. Now he is thanking the Corinthians for praying for him and acknowledging that God was answering their prayers in mighty ways. We too can pray on behalf of others. We can pray for our family. Pray for our church. Pray for our neighbors and those we work with. We can pray for those that are suffering and in great need. We can pray for their provision, perseverance and protection. We can pray for their salvation, guidance and healing. Today, hear what Paul wrote and believe, “You are helping by praying!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come today to pray for others. Help me as I intercede on their behalf. Help me pray the way You want me to with deep conviction and faith, believing that You answer prayers. Might You receive all the praise and glory. In Jesus’ name I pray.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
My prayers and God’s power changes things
Today put your faith in the power of prayer. See yourself interceding on behalf of someone in need. Feel the empathy and urgency as you come to God believing that He will hear you. See God’s joy as you ask Him to do the miraculous for someone else. Sense His pleasure as you put your faith in Him. See God answering the prayers that you pray. Feel confidence rising within you and affirm that your prayers and God’s power changes things.

Today : Overcomer

TODAY’S VERSE
“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” I John 4:4 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The early church was persecuted for their faith. Many were ostracized from society, living in poverty and starvation. Others were imprisoned. Many martyred for their faith. But ironically, this persecution caused the church to flourish. It forced them to band together and have a bond of love that the world has never seen again. It was an infectious witness to those around them. Instead what was more of a spiritual battle was Satan’s battle for the mind of the early believers. It was an all out assault on the truth of the Gospel. During the time this passage was written there many people challenging the THOUGHT of Christianity. There were some who said that the death of Jesus was not enough that we still had to obey the Jewish law. Others said that Christ was not the real Messiah, or Christ was not the real Son of God. Today it is the same story. Neil Anderson, in his book, “Bondage Breaker” reminds us that our battle with Satan is not a power struggle but a truth encounter. Satan comes to us as the father of lies. We are assaulted by one lie after another. Doubts and half truths constantly attack our mind. But we need not despair. Why? Because John wrote that we are from God and have overcome all these falsehoods and lies of Satan. How is that so? Because Christ in you is greater than Satan and his spirits of deception that is in the world.” Today, when lies, doubts, and half truths come your way, resist them. Tell them to flee from your mind and focus on the greater thing, the truth of Christ and His love for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Thank You Lord for Your strength and power. Thank You for protecting me. But also Lord, thank You for Your truth and the fact that You are greater in me than Satan and his lies in the world. Lord fill me with Your truth.
AMEN

TODAY’S MEDITATION & VISUALIZATION
God’s truth sets me free
Visualize yourself walking in a dark forest. You know you are on the right trail but it is hard to see. You feel intimidated and fearful of getting lost or hurt. You pray and God gives you His light. Has you hold it out the whole trail lights up in front of you. You realize that this light is really truth. His truth is the light for your path. You are free to travel and sense a peace and a joy as you walk in the light. You know deep in your heart that, “God’s truth sets me free!”

Today : Don’t Condemn Yourself

TODAY’S VERSE
“Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, ‘Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?’ ‘No, Lord,’ she said. And Jesus said, ‘Neither do I.’” John 8:10-11 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I love the account of Jesus listening to the men who wanted to stone a woman to death, whom they said committed adultery. Jesus instructed them, “the one without any sin should throw the first stone.” One by one each man left until only the woman and Jesus remained. Jesus asked, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” The woman stood there, no doubt astonished and said, “No Lord.” Then Jesus said those words of extreme freedom, “Neither do I.” Paul brings the point home after explaining our human condition of doing things that we don’t want to and not doing those that we should. He shouts the victory cry, “There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” Hallelujah! That should be enough to set anyone free. Or at least you would think so. However, it is not always, God or others that accuse us. It is not Jesus who is condemning us. It is our inner voice that has picked up the stone. It is the internal dialog of guilt, shame, remorse, worthlessness that is pelting us, leaving us bloody and beaten. You see, we can be free from the condemnation of those around us. We can believe, in our mind, that Jesus has forgiven us, but if we do not deal with the inner conflict, the lifelong attitudes of low self worth, we are not free from the pain of condemnation. We must take an inventory and one by one take all our internal accusers and watch them leave. Each one, unqualified to condemn us, until there are none left and then Jesus can say to us, “Where are your accusers?” And we can lift our heart in deep gratitude and say, “There are none!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, I thank You that You have forgiven me for my sins. However, there are attitudes inside my heart that constantly condemn me. They are full of shame, guilt, and legalism, tying me up and keeping me from experiencing the freedom You have given me. Today, help me renounce these inner condemnations and celebrate your forgiveness. Help me live in the reality of Your love.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am not condemned by God
Meditate on a recent time when you have felt condemnation. As you focus on the incident begin to feel the sensation that condemnation gives you. Visualize Jesus coming into the situation. There you are feeling condemned but He looks at you and says, “I do not condemn you.” Let the thought of Jesus setting you free from this nagging guilt permeate your being. Feel the release as you realize that you are loved, forgiven and free. Look up to Heaven and affirm, “I am not condemned by God.”

Today : Complete My Joy

TODAY’S VERSE
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” John 15:11 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
God created us for joy! And where does joy come from? Jesus said, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you.” What was it that He told us? The answer lies in the preceding verse. It says, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.” Jesus said that His joy would be in us and that our joy would be complete as a direct result of the love He and our heavenly Father have for us. Our joy comes from knowing this love in a personal way. It comes from the fact that God is very, very glad to be with us. As the Psalmist suggests, we can come into God’s presence with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise! Why? Because He loves us unconditionally and has bonded with us in a way that gives us true, deep down joy. Today, don’t accept some mediocre joy. Instead, meditate on the love that God has for you and let it move you deep in your soul. Today, ask God to fill you with joy. Might your joy be full!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for creating me for joy. Help me to know the extent of Your love and how happy You are to call me Your own so that my joy will be full.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
Jesus gives me a deep joy
Picture yourself empty of any joy. Tired, depressed coming to God for your joy to be complete. As you sit there you cry out to Jesus to give you joy. As you yield to Him you sense His presence. You begin to change your focus from yourself to Him. You feel the Holy Spirit awakening your heart and joy begins to fill your mind. Sense your burdens begin to diminish. You meditate on His faithful love for you and more joy floods you soul. You affirm, “Jesus gives me a deep, deep joy!”

: 5 Reasons Why You Will Fall Into It

Temptation comes in various ways and scopes. No matter how prayerful or careful you are, it will come. Thus, it is inevitable in life for as long as you live on earth. However, for every temptation you scale through, you’ll have a reward. On the other hand, if you fall into it, you’ll suffer its consequences.

Nonetheless, everything around us points to s*xual temptation from indecent dressing, nudity in movies or musical videos and explicit contents in advert which also creates lust in the hearts of people. Sexual temptation is one of the challenges singles or married face in life. It’s really a battle to contend with, whether to yield or flee.

Hence, your life would never remain the same after falling into it. Falling into s*xual temptation has ruined
lives, destinies and marriages. Lots of people are falling into it both great and small and it’s a weapon of the devil to thwart God’s purpose in the lives of people. No matter how much of it you prevent, you’ll fall into it if you:

1. Walk in the flesh: You cannot be carnally minded and not reap the dividends of carnality. When you allow the flesh to rule your mind, you’ll follow the dictates of the flesh. The flesh has no good thing to offer you. When you walk in it, it will lead you into regrets. Had Samson be spiritually minded, he would have known that Delilah has no good plan for him when she was making her advances.

2. Make Blind Sacrifices: Risking your life for someone else’s pleasure is not love but foolishness. Giving your body for love, or you’re told to prove ‘love’ on the pedestal of sinning against God, doing this will make you fall into the
trap of temptation. Blind sacrifices are when you compromise your values for acceptance, wasting your
resources or fortunes blindly all in the name of love. Anyone that mount pressure on you to go the length of ruining your life for his or her own satisfaction is leading you into temptation.

3. Weakness of Your Will Power: Truly the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Oftentimes many vow or make
resolutions not to commit an act, but not sooner or later, they will find themselves in it. Your natural strength or will power cannot help you to overcome temptation because in your own strength you cannot prevail. Ask for God’s help and do your part by fleeing an immoral scene rather than negotiate with the devil.

4. Invest Wrongly in Time: The idle mind is the devil’s work tool. When you seek to pursue pleasure with your
time, you’ll easily fall victim of temptation. Those who are engaged in productive ventures would hardly fall victim but when you spend more time surfing the web, chatting, watching movie or doing something unproductive, you’ll fall into temptation. Make productive use of your time rather than the pleasurable use of it.

5. Believe in Deceit: It is only those who know the truth that can be set free from the bo***ge of deception.
Quite a lot of youths have been deceived into believing that proving love is all about s*x or becoming a man is about how many ladies you can bed mate. Deception has no aim other than to mislead you. Don’t buy into lies or half truths, it will only put you into bo***ge. Seek to know the truth from word of God. Don’t conform your life or relationship to the pattern of the world but renew your mind daily in the word of God.

Until you walk in the spirit, you’ll fulfill the lust of the flesh. Sexual temptation is inevitable unless you leave the flesh. But while you remain in it, buy the truths and sell it not. Make judicious use of your time lest pleasure eats you up. Don’t trust in your will power but ask God to help you. You determination will falter if it’s not supported by God’s grace.

Never allow anyone mount pressure on you to make sacrifices for them that will cost your life or destiny. #

When I started using pen in my primary school, and I made a mistake, I would try hard to erase it before submitting to my teacher.

Sometimes, I use chalk to clean my mistake but it later re-appeared.
So I began to use saliva, it worked, but only to leave holes in my books.
My teachers then used to beat me for being outrageously dirty. But all I tried to do was to cover my error.

One day, a kind hearted teacher who loved me so much called me aside and he said, " Anytime you make a mistake, just cross it and move on" .
He said further " Trying to erase your mistakes would only damage your book to nothing.
I told him in protest that I don't want people to see my mistakes.
My loving teacher laughed and said " Trying to erase your mistakes will make people know about your mess and the stigma is for life".

*Have you made some* *mistakes in* *life?* Cross it over and move on.
Don't expose yourself as a result of trying to cover your mistakes.
Better things are ahead of you.
Strike out ~your 2018~ ~mistakes~ and move into 2019 with a fresh note.
