A social media commentator, Somiarilucky, has shared an interesting take on why VeryDarkMan (VDM) has remained relevant despite the controversies surrounding him.
According to him, VDM discovered one of the most powerful things that can turn an ordinary person into a well-known figure: attention.
He explained that many popular personalities, including Davido, Wizkid and Rema, have stayed relevant because they operate in areas that have massive appeal to the public. For some, it is music. For others, it could be entertainment, relationships or social commentary.
But becoming famous is only the first step. The bigger challenge, he said, is staying in people's faces.
Whether people are talking about you positively or negatively, as long as they keep talking about you, you remain relevant.
He pointed to recent conversations around Davido, Wizkid, Rema and other public figures as examples of how constant public attention keeps personalities at the centre of discussions.
According to him, VDM understands this game very well.
"Whether you call him this Okoye or that Okoye, he'll be here for a very long time," he said, arguing that Nigerians themselves are helping to keep VDM relevant by constantly giving him attention.
His message is simple: If your business, career or daily bread depends on attention, you have to find ways to remain in people's minds.
