GRANDEUR, CULTURE AND PRESTIGE AT ITS PEAK AT PRINCESS OLUWATOYIN ADERONKE AKINYOYE'S INSTALLATION AS YEYE OGE OF IFON-OSUN

It was a moment of historic significance, cultural splendour and royal elegance on Saturday, March 21, 2026, as His Royal Majesty, Oba Peter Oluwole Ipadeola Ilufemiloye, Akinyooye III, the Olufon of Ifon-Osun, Orolu Kingdom, formally installed Princess Oluwatoyin Aderonke Akinyooye as the Yeye Oge of Ifon-Osun amid pomp and pageantry that attracted dignitaries from across Nigeria and the diaspora.
The epoch-making event commenced at the revered palace of the Olufon, shortly after the sacred observance of Ọ̀sẹ̀ Ọ̀batálá, underscoring the deep-rooted spiritual and cultural significance attached to the installation. The traditional rites, performed in strict adherence to age-long customs and traditions of Ifon-Osun, were executed with dignity and reverence, as the new Yeye Oge was adorned with symbols of honour, prestige and responsibility befitting her esteemed title. The atmosphere was electrifying, filled with royal blessings (ìwúre) that resonated with the rich heritage of the ancient Orolu Kingdom.
Present at the historic ceremony were eminent royal fathers and distinguished personalities, including His Royal Majesty, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa I, the Timi of Ede, His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulRasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji alongside a host of other traditional rulers, high chiefs, political figures, and respected sons and daughters of Ifon-Osun and allies of the chief from across the country and overseas, all of whom gathered to witness the conferment of the prestigious chieftaincy title.
Following the installation, the royal entourage and distinguished guests moved in a colourful procession from the palace to the residence of the newly installed Yeye Oge for the official commissioning of her newly completed house. The commissioning ceremony was marked by prayers, goodwill messages, and expressions of admiration for Princess Akinyooye’s commitment to community development, elegance, and cultural preservation. The residence itself stood as a testament to taste, class, and modern sophistication, drawing commendations from guests who described it as a befitting abode for a woman of honour and influence.
The celebration reached its peak at the grand reception held at Damjay Hotel, Ifon-Osun, where an extraordinary gathering of dignitaries created an atmosphere of unity, joy, and high society glamour. The event was graced by first-class monarchs, senior advocates, top government functionaries, high-ranking security officers, captains of industries, and notable socialites, all of whom added colour and prestige to the occasion. Guests were treated to an unforgettable evening of entertainment, exquisite cuisine, and warm hospitality.
The highlight of the reception was the electrifying performance of renowned Fuji maestro, Abass Akande Obesere, whose energetic delivery captivated the audience and kept guests on their feet in celebration well into the night. His performance, laced with classy rhythms and lyrical brilliance, added a vibrant touch to an already glamorous event.
