MEDITATION 25. I'd love to travel to space but Mrs. Alder has told me I'm on my own.
Now, physicists are wondering if time exists. It sounds stupid but in some sense they're right. We mistake a clock for time. We created calibration for the movement of the earth around a star, called one revolution a year, and then subdivided it. But that calibration is no more time than a tape measure is distance. The earth's revolution is just an event.
It gets more bizzare. If you get on a spacecraft and travel to the next galaxy close to the speed of light, you'll come back much, much, much more younger than the rest of us. In fact we'll be long dead. Every time you travel on a plane you actually come back younger than those on the ground. This is confirmed. Time slows down at high speed. Time is not absolute, it is relative. The time on the plane is slower than the time on ground but the difference is so minute we hardly notice it.
Scientists talk of black holes, white holes, worm holes, multiverse, alternate universe... The possibilities are theologically exciting. If there are parallel universes may be there's indeed another me, one seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Eph.2:6)
We now have a picture of a black hole. A black hole is created when a massive burnt out star collapses into itself. Its gravity is so enormous that if you fall into it you'll be stretched like spaghetti. Can an angel survive a black hole?
I have also wondered if this scripture means much more - Teach us to number our days. (Ps. 90:12) Yes, we should contemplate our lives, but a physicist will see that passage different. If "days" is interpreted "times" the passage will point to Einstein's theory of relativity. Every man has his time.
By the way, in mathematical physics there's something called "closed timelike curve". It makes it possible to complete a circuit and return to the same time and space. That's like completing a journey before starting out. Or like saying Jesus was slain from the foundation of the world, before he was born. Some of the statements in scripture are not crazy after all.
But what do I know, I'm just an imaginer.
