THE FASHION LIFE CYCLE
While I was making my research i came across some powerful information which majority of our designers today knows nothing about and I will be sharing it briefly
The fashion life cycle describes the stages a fashion trend or product goes through, from introduction to obsolescence. Each stage is characterized by different levels of consumer interest and market activity:
📌 INTRODUCTION STAGE: In this initial phase, a new fashion style is introduced by designers or fashion houses. It is often expensive and exclusive, targeting fashion innovators and early adopters. Limited availability and high price point define this stage, and marketing efforts are focused on creating awareness.
📌 RISE STAGE: As the style gains popularity, more people begin adopting it. Retailers start to stock similar items at lower prices, making the trend more accessible to a broader audience.
📌 PEAK STAGE: The trend reaches its highest point of popularity, and demand is at its peak. The style is widely accepted and becomes mainstream, with many retailers and manufacturers offering various versions of it.
📌 DECLINE STAGE: After reaching its peak, the style begins to lose its appeal. Consumers start moving on to new trends, and sales gradually decline.
📌 OBSOLESCENCE STAGE: The trend is considered outdated and is no longer in demand. Fashion-forward consumers have completely moved on, and the style disappears from stores and fashion media.
Each stage reflects the dynamic nature of consumer preferences in the fashion industry.
An your ability to put this into consideration when creating your collection gives you and advantage too.
