GOVERNOR UZODIMMA SWEARS IN ACTING CHIEF JUDGE AND NEW ATTORNEY GENERAL OF IMO STATE
In a move to strengthen the judiciary and reinforce good governance, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has sworn in Hon. Justice Ijeoma Agugua as the Acting Chief Judge of Imo State, alongside Barrister Paul Obinatu as the Honourable Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Uzodimma described the appointments as decisive steps toward restoring the dignity of the judiciary following recent institutional challenges. He emphasized that the imbroglio that had affected the judiciary in the past was both “unfortunate and instructive,” but expressed confidence that the State has emerged stronger through lawful and diligent resolution.
The Governor noted that the appointments, ratified by the National Judicial Council (NJC), mark a new chapter for Imo State in entrenching accountability, competence, and judicial independence.
He expressed optimism that Justice Agugua and Barrister Obinatu would bring professional excellence, dedication, and loyalty to the constitution in the discharge of their duties.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to ensuring the full functionality of all arms of government, Governor Uzodimma assured that the judiciary will continue to receive the necessary support to remain “the last hope of the common man.”
