JAMB pegs admission cut-off at 140

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB )and the heads of the country’s higher education institutions have set a minimum cut-off for admissions for the 2022/2023 academic year.

The minimum cut-off for universities is 140, while the cut-offs for polytechnics and education are 100. These were announced at an ongoing admissions policy meeting chaired by the Education Minister Adamu Adamu, on thursday.


JAMB’s Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who made the cut off known after a thorough debate and vote by the Vice-Chancellors of the Universities, Rectors of the Polytechnics and Provosts of the Colleges of Education, said ; “every institution has the right to fix its own cut-off mark even up to 220 but no one would be allowed to go less than the agreed minimum marks of 100 for colleges of education, 100 for polytechnics and 140 for universities.”


The meeting also called for a review of admissions standards, giving college heads 10 per cent admissions discretion.
