PART 3
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE CRISES IN IYC.
SEN Heineken Lokpobiri PhD

Heineken can be seen as a victim of Jonathan's desperation but as an adult and an elder we believe he had a choice and as such can be held responsible for his actions and the silent role he plays in the division in IYC.

Remember, this article is subject to challenge, debate, fact check and criticism.

Jonathan Lokpobiri is a man without self confidence who always looks for whose shadow to hide under.

With his original name Being Jonathan Moses, he changed his name to Jonathan Lokpobiri, Lokpobiri being Heineken's father his distant uncle.
This name change came when Heineken was in Bayelsa state house of Assembly and Jonathan in his calculation arrived at the logic of using the name "Lokpobiri" to gain relevance and open doors in Bayelsa state.

This Shenanigan worked for him as he obtained favors including cash and contracts most of which he never completed.
It is a known fact that Heineken Lokpobiri as a Minister of Petroleum (oil) was and is responsible for sponsoring his distant cousin.

Heineken Lokpobiri is responsible for pressing buttons for Jonathan in the oil and gas sector, apart from funding from Bayelsa state government, Jonathan Lokpobiri is sustained by the influence of Heineken.

At the beginning of Jonathan's factional leadership, Jonathan went around trying to deceive core loyalists of Dr. Alaye Tari Theophilus the authentic president of council with the promise that his cousin will give them jobs in the petroleum ministry, you will be surprised to know that at a certain point in time, Jonathan sent a delegation to beg the Legitimate IYC president to step down and promised that his cousin would give him a well paying job in the petroleum ministry.

This was not just laughable but also very insulting.

We can not tell for sure wether Heineken was aware of all the tricks Jonathan was playing with his name but the boldness looked convincing and at the same time, we can not account for any person that have successfully gotten a job in the petroleum ministry courtesy of Jonathan and Heineken.

The worse part of this family involvement in IYC is the part where Jonathan was forced to do the biddings of Nyesome Wike who is Heineken's benefactor and godfather, this was allegedly the reason Jonathan Lokpobiri stood on the side of Wike during the heated Wike vs Fubara political tussle.
Jonathan went as far as sponsoring Ijaw youths in Rivers state through his chief of staff to rally support for Wike even when people like Pa Edwin Clark warned Jonathan about such act of betrayal.

I know that it is normal to support family, but Heineken Lokpobiri will be remembered for the role he played in fueling crises in Ijaw youth council by allegedly sponsoring his brother's illegal emergence into factional IYC Leadership.

PART 2
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE CRISES IN IYC.

Prof Benjamin Ogele Okaba

The former INC president Prof. Benjamin Ogele Okaba was not just fuel for the parallel government in IYC but he can also be described as a poison to the entire system.

Remember, this article is open to challenge, criticism, fact check and debate.

We didn't know what the INC president's intentions were, we couldn't tell his interest in the 2023 IYC election but his story begins from Izon Warrie after the election which did not hold in Izon Warrie but had to be shifted to a new venue by the 8th president of council for security purposes after due consultations.

INC had assigned an election observer to the IYC election in the person of Alabo Nengi James.
As an eye witness, I believe Nengi James lost his voice that day due to constant shouting in a fruitless attempt to install order for election to hold in Ijaw house.

As an election observer assigned by the leadership of INC, we can all agree that it was the responsibility of Alabo Nengi James to intimate INC and it's leadership with facts and reality about the election he was sent to observe and the leadership was supposed to work based on that, but that was never the case, rather the INC divided after the election with Nengi James supporting the legitimate IYC leadership led by Dr. Alaye Theophilus and Benjamin Okaba supporting Jonathan Lokpobiri led illegal IYC.

The only way to analyze this development is that Okaba ignored reality as presented by an eye witness who is known within the entire Ijaw nation for his scrupulous and uncompromising personality.

In fact, when Dr. Alaye Tari Theophilus led his exco to pay a visit to Benjamin Okaba in his Kpakiama home, The INC president admitted that Alaye have divided his cabinet taking his Vice president Sir Nengi James and others from him.

In that same visit, Benjamin Okaba did Something very shameful and corrupt, that was the day he lost respect as far as I am concerned.
I was privileged to be in that meeting as a media person who had followed the IYC activities from the beginning and who was also curious to see the end of this whole matter.
At the end of Okaba's speech, he demanded that every member of Dr. Alaye's executive should drop their phone numbers with him,
I was as surprised as you are right now because why on earth would Okaba want to have the phone numbers of Alaye's 10 executive members?,
There can only be one reason; to relate with them individually, to convince them and possibly bribe them away from Alaye's camp in favour of Jonathan Lokpobiri.

Benjamin Okaba also asked Dr. Alaye Theophilus to withdraw the IYC leadership case from the court and bring it to him to settle, this was coming from a man that ignored the report and direction of his Vice president whom he sent to monitor election, the man who never cared to call both parties for dialogue even when matters were escalating in IYC, a man who showed no iota of integrity, fairness or fatherly concern but went ahead to accept Jonathan's illegal camp for reasons only known to him....no, the reasons are not only known to him, we know the relationship between Okaba and Jonathan, we know what they share in common and why Okaba had to endorse Jonathan no matter the circumstances surrounding his fraudulent emergence and against the wish of most of his executive members but some things are better not said and we better not wash all our dirty linens outside.

Benjamin Okaba's INC leadership can best be described as a disaster to Ijaw nation from his emergence to his exit, he has displayed his unpatriotic stand in the INC in the part he played in his transition process recently.
How can we have expected Okaba to solve the problems in IYC when he is seen creating problems in INC with his invented fraudulent initiatives such as online voting which he used to conduct the just concluded INC election whose integrity is currently challenged in court and among reputable stakeholders and traditional leaders.

Even in Jonathan's faction, Benjamin Okaba was not fair in the roles he played but was constantly making sure IYC is destroyed as long as Jonathan Lokpobiri was getting enriched.

In fact, according to Jonathan Lokpobiri in a press conference, during a severe crises in Jonathan's faction, Jonathan went to meet Okaba in his hotel for counsel, but instead of giving counsel and showing interest in resolving the problem in IYC, Jonathan narrated that Benjamin Okaba ordered him to stay back in the hotel and ignore the crises, Jonathan in the press conference narrated how he jettisoned Okaba's advice and went ahead to attempt to solve the crises.

In other words, Benjamin Okaba who was an INC president at the time told Jonathan to chill in the luxurious hotel and allow IYC to burn.

This narration is available in Jonathan Lokpobiri's press conference which he held after his ugly ordeal in Abuloma which led to the death of 17 Ijaw youths.

We trusted Okaba to resolve the crises in IYC but he failed us, this is the reason we still have crises in IYC today.
Had it been Okaba played fair, maybe he would have ensured a unified election was carried out, maybe he would have endorsed the legitimate IYC leadership or at least maybe he would have called for dialogue to resolve the factional issue but he never made any efforts to restore peace and unity in IYC, even when when looked for him with an open mind he still attempted to play politics.

PART 1
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE CRISES IN IYC.

SENATOR DUOYE DIRI.

Jonathan Lokpobiri might have been overambitious and desperate, yes he wanted to be president of Ijaw Youth Council but lost election and came back 10 years later in 2023 when the IYC constitution and conventional practices did not favor him.

Jonathan forced his way into his factional government but this he did not do without the help, aide and backing of some people who abused the respect and and confidence we had for them.
These people I will mention in this article and explicitly state the roles they played.

I also want to state that this article is open to challenge, criticism, fact check and debate.

In the build up to the 2023 IYC national elections, the governor of Bayelsa state Senator Duoye Diri who also doubles as the governor General of Ijaw nation made his position and interest clear.
According to our dependable source of information at the time, the governor said he does not have a favourite candidate and therefore wanted a free fair and credible electoral process for IYC.

The governor also displayed what we saw as a fatherly gesture in the middle of crises in July 2023 by attempting to harmonize the eleco when Jonathan Lokpobiri influenced about half of the electoral body after the eleco chairman turned down gratifications and refused to thumbs up Jonathan whose age was above constitutional age limit and who also had other irregularities in the documents he presented to the eleco for his screening.

It is on record that IYC had two eleco factions preparing for the 2023 elections but Senator Diri stepped in for harmonization and supposedly called for unity which had the two eleco and aspirants from both sides come together with Jonathan's eleco agreeing to concede and accept Ataba constitution for the election while the legitimate eleco led by Comrade Solomon Urang agreed to concede election venue.

Peter Igbifa gave up his planned Ataba venue for the election even after spending millions to mobilize security and agreed to the Izon Warrie venue on the instruction of the Governor General but this was a huge trap.

The governor had promised to provide adequate security for the IYC election and also promised his personal supervision, he also promised to support any result that emerged from the election conducted under the leadership of Comrade Peter Igbifa the 8th president of council.

Let me spare you the story about how Jonathan Lokpobiri still refused to comply with this directive, how the governor did not provide adequate security as promised and how Jonathan resorted to thuggery and intimidation to ensure delegate accreditation and election didn't hold in Yenegoa instead of working on how to have delegates vote for him because he was never prepared for a legitimate election.

Today if you ask Jonathan Lokpobiri or his followers what makes him President of Ijaw Youth Council he will never talk about the electioneering process because he knows his election was never conducted by a legitimate electoral body, rather they will capitalize on the fact that he was endorsed by the governor General of Ijaw nation and some other stakeholders.

How did Jonathan get endorsement from Duoye Diri?

The governor did not endorse Jonathan Lokpobiri nor Alaye Theophilus the authentic president of IYC immediately after the election as it is done traditionally but the governor took at least three months before making any move.
As at this time, Jonathan didn't have any relevance or acceptance, Dr. Alaye Tari Theophilus was the known president of council but things changed when the governor allegedly decided to prioritize his political interest over the larger interest of IYC and of the Ijaw nation.
It is alleged that Diri's endorsement for Jonathan and his executives was driven by the governor's political affiliation with Heineken Lokpobiri who is Jonathan's cousin and sponsor.

The governor General had planned to call the two factions and the eleco and do proper fact finding but later gave in to pressure to sustain his political relationship or create political alliances with Heineken and others who were already at the top of Bayelsa state politics.

We know and we agree that The governor is first of all a human being and a politician before being the governor General of Ijaw nation, and we know that as a politician his decisions are bound to be influenced by political friendship, relationship and ambition but we believe the credibility, sanity and health of Ijaw Youth Council is too big to be traded for political gains.

We the real ijaws feel that Duoye Diri should have made his responsibility as governor General of Ijaw nation paramount before his political ambitions.

While we can not accuse our governor of being part of the dirty game played in Izon Warrie on the IYC election day, we demand explanation from the governor on how he managed to arrive at endorsing Jonathan as IYC president, we want to know on which facts he gave credence to the illegal election conducted by Jonathan Lokpobiri and his friends, we want to know why Diri never called the two parties to make peace and why he was never interested in hearing from the outgoing president whose duty it was to present to him the duly elected president who took over from him.

We want to know why the governor have put us in this state of mockery, disarray and quagmire.

JONATHAN LOKPOBIRI IYC FACTION ON FIRE

The eleco set up to conduct elections in Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr's illegal IYC faction have conducted questionable screening exercise which have seen people above the age of 55 years scale through the screening process successfully.

In 2023, Jonathan Lokpobiri failed in the screening exercise conducted by the electoral body due to his age which was above Ijaw Youth Council constitutional age bracket among other irregularities.
Jonathan went ahead and organized his own election from which he emerged as an impersonator of the genuine IYC president.

Three years later, Jonathan Lokpobiri in his attempt to continue his illegal faction of Ijaw Youth Council went ahead and set up an electoral body made of his core loyalists under his supervision.
It is no longer news that Jonathan who is tagged "the prodigal son" in Ijaw nation is working hard to install his overaged friend as his successor, a development that has already caused serious concern in his camp, he has also manufactured a new constitution for his faction which permits people up to 50 years and above to participate in IYC activities in disregard to IYC original practice of 45 years age limit and international standard for participation in youth activities.

We can report on good authority that Jonathan's eleco have supposedly carried out screening exercise on their aspirants and majority of the successful candidates are people within 55 to 60 years of age.
Additionally, some big names who have contested for offices especially presidential office allegedly received waver which made them qualify to contest election without screening.

Another troubling report has it that instead of consultations and campaign which is a known practice during IYC elections, Favourite candidates in Jonathan's camp are running around hoping to become Gbaramatu favourites since the body language in Jonathan's illegal camp suggests that a similar scenario which occured in the INC election will take place in Jonathan's IYC election and a deal is already allegedly in process to produce executive members loyal to Gbaramatu house.

I remember in 2023 when we blew whistle about what is taking place in IYC right now, we warned about the plot to attempt to frustrate Peter Igbifa, the plot to neglect the legitimate election, the plot to create a parallel government in IYC.
People paid deaf ear to our warning and here we are today.

Now we are warning about another very illegal and faulty process which will not only have Jonathan Lokpobiri sale his IYC faction but possibly produce at least two other factions from Jonathan's faction.

We are warning about overaged people that Jonathan wants to install to succeed his illegal IYC faction which is already causing division in his camp.
We are also warning about the illegal constitution manufactured by Jonathan which even his own eleco have refused to regard.

We are expecting very interesting times ahead as Jonathan Lokpobiri struggles to succeed in selling his IYC faction.

THE HYPOCRISY OF IJAW PEOPLE AND THE LOOMING DANGER.Pipeline surveillance contract and the regional control agenda. It is...
17/05/2026

THE HYPOCRISY OF IJAW PEOPLE AND THE LOOMING DANGER.

Pipeline surveillance contract and the regional control agenda.

It is now a known tradition in Ijaw nation for people to rise against anybody or any development that doesn't seat well with people they are loyal to without even considering wether the development is a good one or not, but the very next moment they celebrate something of the same nature that swings their way.

I hold Olu of Warri and high chief Tompolo in high esteem and I'm a fan of their efforts when it comes to development in the Niger Delta.
But let's take away fanatics and loyalty; how do you justify the fact that Tompolo and Olu of Warri are in charge of pipeline surveillance contract that was originally meant to be shared (decentralized) across the entire region, and other stakeholders who have also sacrificed for the recognition of Niger Delta are asking for same contract which they very much deserve and you see them as enemies just because you are a fan of Tompolo or Olu of Warri?.

Most of the people speaking against decentralization of pipeline surveillance contract are people who don't even have stakes or benefit, some are only supporting this monopoly because someone they dislike is speaking against it so they must automatically take the opposite stand.
Some are merely shouting against and insulting agitators of pipeline contract decentralization because someone they admire is on the same path without even understanding what this debate is about.

I see the president of Ijaw Youth Council Dr. Alaye Theophilus being in the center of hate and criticism in the mouth of many Ijaw people because of his stand in this matter.
Some are calling him a betrayer, some are saying he is fighting a fellow Ijaw man and I ask; if this contract is decentralized will it not be shared to same Ijaw people?.

Blind loyalty and politics of complicity is gradually eating up Ijaw nation, Ijaw no longer stand for truth but people fan wrongdoing even without any gain.

I remember not long ago when Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state had his political career under serious Threat, people like The Lokpobiris did not hide their stand against the Ijaw governor, in fact, Jonathan Lokpobiri the factional IYC president sponsored anti Fubara groups in Rivers state through his chief of staff and interestingly his blind loyalists who can as well be described as zombie followers were cheering him up without seeing anything wrong with that brutal act of betrayal, Something that I am very sure Isaac Boro was weeping about wherever he is, and today the same Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr is very bittered with those agitating for pipeline job decentralization only because he has been hunting for opportunity to have Tantita sublet a portion to him and those following him to insult Alaye are not even aware of his selfish motive.

Alaye Theophilus is only asking for this contract to be returned to how it was when it was first introduced during the Goodluck Jonathan era for wider inclusion and higher effectiveness and some unpatriotic people are calling for his head.

Are you Saying that Tompolo deserves to eat alone what belongs to the entire Niger Delta and other stakeholders including those who have sacrificed more than him are enemies of Ijaw nation just because they are asking for their share?
Sometimes we celebrate injustice but frown at same injustice when the table turns.

I see some people saying "go and fight for your own and leave somebody's own"
These are very uninformed people who only jump into conversation they have no idea about.

May I educate that pipeline surveillance contract is one of the benefits that came with the amnesty deal, it was a way of making us protect our asset instead of sabotaging them, it was a way of making us stakeholders in the business so that we will have sense of responsibility and also be empowered.

Olu of Warri or Tompolo never fought for pipeline contract, it was our collective struggle that gave birth to the contract, the one that many gave their lives for.

The dangers of this monopoly, the adamant arrogance, tyranny and high-handedness this multi million dollars venture in the hand of one or two persons have brought upon us is something that will soon become everybody's concern.

The regional control of attempting to install loyalists as governors in different states, organisations and even community youth groups is just the beginning of regional capture and control.

When Dr. Alaye led a peaceful protest to the national Assembly on the pipeline surveillance contract issue, it did not take Gbaramatu house up to an hour to order Dennis Otuaro to mobilize security men assigned to the amnesty office to attempt to harass and kidnap the president of Ijaw Youth Council.

This shameful drama would never have been possible if pipeline surveillance contract money was not available for Gbaramatu house to use and purchase amnesty office for their brother like a caravan that was labelled "for sale" and this is just the beginning because I'm already foreseeing more bullying ahead and I need not to be told that it will even touch those who are clapping for this injustice one day.

At this point there is no need to mince words when addressing this particular issue, there is a saying that after a baby is born in the market, there is no need to tell the mother to close her legs.

The recent interference in the Ijaw national Congress election is bringing this heavy money tyranny closer to some of the admires and blind loyalists.
The display of money power, the highjacking of the whole structure, the disregard of respected elders of Ijaw nation just to install a loyalist of Gbaramatu house and of course the unethical and disrespectful hosting of the INC inauguration in Delta state in disregard to the instruction of the governor general and conventional practices which can best be described as a desecration to Izon Warrie and what it stands for.

I am even hearing from sources, the plan to build an INC secretariat annex in Gbaramatu kingdom and if this should come to fruition, I strongly believe it will not only be an annex but a calculated power shift from the Jerusalem of Ijaw nation,
This is what Gbaramatu dollars derived from the monopolization of pipeline surveillance contract can and will do.
And this is just the beginning.

There are about three governors installed within Niger Delta, INC captured, Amnesty program purchased, NDDC warming up to purchase, IYC warming up to purchase, I have no doubt that this state capture will go on and on as long as this money which should be spread across the Niger Delta for more tangible development and empowerment keeps piling up in one or two hands.

I see people frowning at the current state of disarray in INC, these are people who have supported evil and injustice in the past and the only thing I can tell them is that this is just the beginning.

If you still think that all the revered ex agitators, war lords, freedom fighters and stakeholders in Ijaw nation are wrong to ask for a share in pipeline surveillance contract and only two or three people have the right to own it all then I can only tell u to wait for your turn because this injustice is a piece of cake that will definitely get to everybody's doorstep.
