AS BENEFICIARY OF N'DELTA, I'LL SUPPORT ITS DEVELOPMENT ~ Chief Wordu

The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BIMFERMS Investment Ltd and other subsidiaries, Chief Dr. Henry Chima Wordu, has admitted that he is a beneficiary of the Niger Delta and will give his support to any move towards the development of the region.

He made the statement while receiving an award of Honour as a ‘Distinguished Company Director of the Year 2024’ from the Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NDMPN) in his office in Port Harcourt, Thursday.

Wordu said he has passion for charity, hence will partner with the NDMPN in executing their projects in line with his policies and programme of reaching out to the downtrodden in the society.

The oil magnet noted that the award presented to him has taken him down memory lane, just as he advised the younger generation to live up to their responsibilities in the overall interest of the larger society.

Earlier in his address, Convener of the Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NDMPN), Amb. Joseph Asomeji, disclosed that they were in his office to follow up on the report of the assessment team of the association and congratulated the awardee on his corporate social responsibility activities, particularly building of public market for the use of residents of his community and support to both the conventional security operatives and the locals among other charity works.

Amb. Asomeji maintained that Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NDMPN) is an association of practicing journalists from the region, with the aim of supporting the education of the younger generation, encouraging entrepreneurship, public office holders and philanthropists.

He appealed for the funding of the association’s second quarter 2024 projects, which include donating learning/ teaching aid to secondary schools in the region.

In his goodwill massage, the Director General of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture PHCCIMA, Mr. Erasmus Chukwunda thanked the association for finding the recipient worthy, noting that the award was well deserved and congratulated Chief Wordu on the award.

NDMPN Honours Prof. Owunari as Most Distinguished VC of the year

A Non Governmental Organization under the aegis of Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NDMPN) has presented an award of Honour to the VICE-CHANCELLOR of University of PortHarcourt, Professor Owunari Georgewill as the Most Distinguished VC of the year 2024 following his records of achievements in the University during the period under review.

In his address, the Convener of Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NDMPN) Amb. Joseph Asomeji explained that the association is a group of Practicing Journalists from the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria with the intent of bringing to the front burner issues affecting the development of the region, encouragement of the education of the younger generation and support their people in public offices.

Amb. Asomeji maintained that they were at the University of PortHarcourt as a complementary to the report of their assessment team lunched and x-rayed the activities of the Vice Chancellor of the University on his innovations to achieving the dreams of the founding fathers of the University and congratulated Professor Owunari Georgewill on his giant strive recorded both in general academics, technology drive, corporate social responsibilities, Students/Staff/Management welfare as well as conducive environment for business activities to thrive.

The Convener of NDMPN who also double as the Media Officer of PortHarcourt Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) while highlighting the achievements of NDMPN which included co-sponsorship of a bill at Rivers State House of Assembly on the need for multinational to adhere to local content act, Partnership with Mayor of Housing My-Ace China in organizing a one day sensitization and reorientation of the youths in the region among other things, appealed to the management of University of PortHarcourt through its Vice Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill to partner with the association for the donation of Exercise books to selected Secondary Schools in the three Senatorial District in Rivers State.

Reading the citation of the recipient, BOT Secretary Pastor Oziri Gospel Oziri Gospelc stressed on the VC's contribution towards human capacity development, purpose driven vision and innovative capacity being implemented in the school.

Responding on the Honour done him, the Vice Chancellor of University of PortHarcourt, Professor Owunari Georgewill thanked the media group for finding him worthy of the recognition " it is with immense gratitude that I accept this award from this body, I do so because, we do know that Journalists are the watch dog of the society, they do their research and finding before making it public, so to be found worthy of this award, to me is something that I cherish.

"I am indeed very glad that the little effort that we put here to make things work as much as we can is been recognized by people outside the University, this award will spor us to do more, he continued.

The Uniport VICE-CHANCELLOR further promised to work closely with the NDMPN to reach out to the society particularly the downtrodden and most vulnerable people as the award presentation was the beginning of the partnership just as he advised the media group to remain objective in their reportage, positing the world at large counts on the informations from the media.

Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria NDMPN honours Rev. Loveday Akah of Assemblies of God Church Mile 1 Port Harcourt.

True to his passion, during his address, the Convener of NDMPN Award Ambassador Asomeji Joseph, while narrating the findings of the private inventions conducted by the assessment team of the body, which qualified the recipient for the award, seized the moment to vocalize the significance of diversity and the necessity of creating pathways for emerging giants in various sectors of life.

Reading the citation of the recipient, BOT secretary Pastor Oziri Gospel Oziri Gospelc itemized the antecedents of the religious leader who over the years has been of immense impact to lives, having spent about 44 years in active service in the Assemblies of God Church Nigeria and retiring at age 70.

In his response, Rev. Loveday Akah praised the Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria NDMPN, lauding their visionary approach and unwavering commitment to recognizing exceptional contributions in various sectors. “You have exemplified what it means to be a trailblazer. Your dedication to honoring excellence and fostering a culture of inclusivity is truly commendable.”
