Seeing the renewed TLCOM step into the world has been a moment of deep pride for us.

What began months ago as a process of rediscovery became a journey of clarifying legacy, conviction, and the role TLCOM continues to play in shaping Africa’s entrepreneurial future.

As one of the continent’s most consequential venture capital firms, backing founders since 1999, TLCOM carries a history that deserved to be expressed with the same clarity and confidence with which it invests.

We’re honored to have walked this journey alongside the TLCOM team and excited for the chapter ahead as they continue to find & fund Africa’s most exceptional founders.

With care, always.

Mary Afọlábí first day at FourthCanvas in 2017, Victor A. Fatanmi sat her down to talk through the core values and she remembers thinking, wait, people actually do this?

Eventually it turned into something bigger: figuring out how to make those values show up in real life, not just sound good on paper.

That’s the Code of Care. Almost 80 behaviors, built around Lead, Stretch, and Care.

It started with two friends, a shared love for books, and long walks around campus comparing notes.

That habit of learning out loud, exchanging insights before either of them had even finished a chapter — became something deeper as FourthCanvas grew. You can’t ask a growing team to buy the same books and catch up the way two friends once did.

So Victor and Bolaji did something more lasting. They wrote it down. What began as scattered principles became Lead, Stretch, and Care — the Code of Care. The things that stay constant, no matter how much else changes.

Today, it’s not just a document. It’s how we show up, every day, at every level.
We’re excited to finally share it with the world. Get yours via link in bio.

Most companies have a Code of Conduct. We created a Code of Care.

A few years ago, we started building what we thought would be a standard employee handbook. But the deeper we went, the more we realized that rules alone don’t shape culture; values do.

So instead of creating a document about policies, we built one around a simple idea: care.

Care for people.
Care for clients.
Care for the details.
Care for the work.

Today, the document is publicly available in digital and physical version.

2026 was built around one idea: creating a space where creators at every level could meet, connect, and interact with brands looking to work with them.

A melting pot. That was the intention from day one.

We designed a visual identity that could hold that kind of energy, the blur and the focal point, existing in the same space at the same time.

Seeing the room full, the stage occupied, and the right people in conversation with each other, that was the system working exactly as it was designed to.

We came to by as the team behind the brand. But our Director of Strategy, showed up as something else, the person trusted to sit across from and pull out one of the most important conversations of the event.

The session was titled Betting on Creators: Inside Africa’s First $500K Creator Investment Fund. Chude’s FourthMainland Fund is a direct capital investment into individual African creators, backing bold people building for the long term.

Victor has spent over a decade inside Africa’s creative economy. As a founder, a brand builder, a consultant to startups, and someone who has worked from the inside of the ecosystem long enough to understand what creators actually need to grow. He has asked these questions in boardrooms, in agencies, and in communities of designers and entrepreneurs across the continent.

So when he sat across from Chude in that room, it was a full-circle moment for what FourthCanvas has always believed: that the people building Africa’s creative economy deserve to be in the room, not just working behind the scenes of it.
