Lessons from the 2015 Balloon D'Or finalists
PERSERVERANCE
Learning to go all out against the odds is a skill that must be learned. Lionel Messi displayed this skill in excess by coming out of a debilitating injury to clinch the best player award coupled with the challenge of losing the earlier title to his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo in 2014. Remember, if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. Messi has continued to maintain and keep the world of soccer marvelling at his dexterity and has shown the meaning of the saying that excellence is a moving target. Did you lose a battle in 2015? It's time to dust your shoes, get up and set your aim for a bigger fight in 2016.
HARDWORK
Cristaino Ronaldo is the human personification of hard work. He has displayed the real, raw power that hard work produces by giving his attention and endless dedication toward reaching his goals; on and off the football pitch. He has shown that talent on its own is not enough to be successful in any endeavour and he has immense results to show for it - a three (3) time Balloon d'Or winner. As you start out in 2016, remember, hard work always, always has a reward. As is usually said, only in the dictionary does Success comes before Hard work. So get to work!
MOTIVATION
Leaving a comfort zone behind and seeking relevance in a highly competitive European league with the dream of top-level recognition among the world's best has been a dream come true for Neymar. He stopped dreaming and started doing; he has proven beyond doubt how a motivated spirit can inspire success. Neymar is proof that 'if you believe in yourself, there is no limit to what you can achieve'. It is not enough to find good opportunities but what do you do when business is slow and the sales are not coming in? Stay motivated!
Decide to persevere through the challenges of 2016, work hard to actualize your goals and remain motivated in spite of what people may say or think. Learn from these football greats and have a remarkable new year!
