Fresh controversy trailed the leadership of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries on Monday after its Senior Pastor, Chris Okafor , failed to honour an official invitation from the Lagos State Police Command over serious allegations levelled against him.The police had, on Sunday, January 4, publicly announced that Okafor was invited for questioning in connection with allegations bordering on multiple r**e and other offences said to be capable of breaching public peace. The invitation, contained in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, directed the cleric to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5.However, police sources confirmed that the pastor did not present himself at the appointed time. He was also absent for most of the day, eventually failing to appear until midnight on Monday, well outside the stipulated period stated in the invitation.According to the Lagos State Police Command, the decision to invite Okafor followed several complaints alleging sexual offences and other acts considered capable of disrupting public order. The command had emphasized that the invitation was part of an ongoing investigation into the reported allegations.As of the time of filing this report, there was no official explanation from Pastor Okafor or representatives of his ministry regarding his failure to honour the police invitation as scheduled. The development has further intensified public attention on the case, as authorities continue their inquiry into the allegations.
