Dr. Owelle Odumegwu Hosts Party Faithful, Distributes Relief Materials

Dr. Ejikeme Odumegwu, the Owelle of Nsukka and an aspirant for Udenu / Igbo-Eze North federal constituency 2027 general election had hosted and celebrated with the party loyalists of his federal constituency at his home twon, Igwe-eze Umuopo, in Igbo Eze North local government areas, Enugu State for their massive votes and supports given to him during the 2026 All Progressives Congress primariy election.
According to Dr. Ejikeme Odumegwu, the gathering was meant to thank and show appreciation to his political supporters, who against all oppression and intimidation, stood on their consciences and voted for him.

Addressing loyalists gathered at his country home in Ette, Enugu Ezike North, Dr. Odumegwu urged them to keep faith in the party and in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He called on them to mobilize more support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As part of the outreach, the aspirant distributed food items and wrappers to attendees and offered free NIN and MTN registration to members of the community.

The gathering was marked by cultural performances as constituents entertained their political leader, cash rewards was given to the best dancers 1st,2nd, and 3rd positions

Obollo Microfinance Bank MD Says Fintechs Like OPay, Moniepoint Have Forced Banks to Upgrade Services

Managing Director of Obollo Microfinance Bank Ltd, Mr. Okejah Bernard, NP, has said the emergence of fintech platforms such as OPay and Moniepoint has compelled conventional banks to modernize their infrastructure and retail services.

Speaking to newsmen at the bank’s head office in Obollo Afor, Bernard noted that fintechs have fundamentally upgraded the Point-of-Sale (POS) experience and captured large market shares previously dominated by traditional Deposit Money Banks.

“The development is a welcome innovation,” Bernard said while commenting on the impact of OPay and Moniepoint on traditional banking. He added that the competition has pushed the entire sector to improve service delivery and technology adoption.

Addressing the demands of microfinance banks from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bernard called for continued support and regulatory clarity to enable MFBs to compete effectively in the evolving financial landscape.

He also urged customers to continue banking with Obollo Microfinance Bank Ltd, stating that the institution has upgraded to international banking service standards.

Orie Igbo Eze South Modern Market Committee Backs Keje Asogwu,

Cites Strong Humanitarian Track Record Ahead of June 20 Bye-Election

The Committee Chairman of Orie Igbo Eze South Modern Market, Rt. Hon. Godwin Eze, has endorsed Keje Asogwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the June 20, 2026 Enugu North Senatorial bye-election, citing his consistent humanitarian service across Enugu State.

According to Eze, Asogwu has already “marketed his profile” to the people of Enugu State through visible commitments to the less privileged. His engagements in various communities have been marked by sustained support for families facing economic hardship.

“The humanitarian services rendered by the candidate have helped to strengthen unity, reduce hardships, and restore hope among families,” Eze said. “The people have continued to appreciate his consistent support for those in need.”

NURTW Udenu Branch, Enugu State, Endorses Ikeje for Senate, Calls for Unity and Credible Process

Obollo Afor, Enugu State June 18, 2026 The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Udenu Branch, Enugu State, has formally endorsed Ikeje as its preferred candidate to produce the next Senator for Enugu North.

Speaking to journalists in his office in Obollo Afor, Branch Chairman Omemma Kingsley said the decision aligns with the union’s commitment to unity, disciplined mobilization, and equitable representation.

“It is the turn of Igbo Eze to produce the next Senator,” Kingsley stated. “We are urging party loyalists and stakeholders to remain focused on the selection process and ensure that whoever emerges can represent the interests of the people and drive development in the state.”

Kingsley noted that the union’s leadership structure is clear and that the push for continuity is intended to strengthen representation from Enugu South and beyond. He also called on Igbo Eze traditional institutions to encourage youth participation, stressing that active youth engagement will be essential for voter mobilization and sustaining political momentum.

The NURTW chairman further advised party supporters to avoid unnecessary distractions and to work toward a peaceful, credible election that reflects the will of the people.
