Governor Pastor Umo Eno has once again demonstrated responsible leadership and unwavering commitment to the people of Akwa Ibom State with the approval of an additional ₦2.3 billion for the payment of gratuities.
This latest release brings the total amount paid so far to nearly ₦80 billion out of the ₦111 billion backlog of gratuities and other emoluments inherited in 2023, dating back to 2012. At a time when many retirees had almost lost hope, this administration continues to restore dignity, honor, and respect to those who served our state faithfully.
True to his word, Pastor Umo Eno is not only clearing inherited financial obligations but also driving impactful social investment programs across the state. Through the ARISE Agenda:
• 335 ARISE Compassionate Homes have already been delivered, with a bold target of 500 within this first term.
• The ARISE Elderly Care Initiative is providing consistent monthly support to elders across wards.
• Over 10,000 vulnerable citizens are now enrolled in the ARISE Medical Insurance Scheme at no cost.
This is leadership that walks the talk.
Pastor Umo Eno’s steady, compassionate, and people-centered approach reflects a government that understands responsibility and accountability. Clearing decades-long backlogs while simultaneously investing in infrastructure and social welfare speaks volumes about his vision for Akwa Ibom.
On behalf of Akwa Ibom Matters Blog, we commend His Excellency for prioritizing retirees, uplifting the vulnerable, and staying faithful to his promises.
May God continue to grant him wisdom, strength, and grace to lead our dear state forward. Akwa Ibom is rising.
