Marketing isn’t about being everywhere. It’s about being where your customers already are.
One of the biggest mistakes I see founders make is treating every customer the same.
“African consumers” isn’t a target audience.
Every market has different behaviours, cultures, spending habits, and pain points.
If you don’t understand them, your marketing becomes guesswork.
The best campaigns don’t start in a boardroom. They start with conversations.
Go into the communities you serve, listen more than you speak, and build around real customer problems instead of assumptions.
Another mistake?
Chasing every social platform and obsessing over influencers while ignoring the product itself.
No amount of marketing can consistently save a product that doesn’t solve a real problem.
A great product creates its own momentum.
And while we’re at it, let’s stop celebrating vanity metrics.
Followers, likes, and impressions look good in reports, but they don’t pay the bills.
The metrics that matter are conversions, repeat customers, retention, and revenue.
Your marketing reports should answer one question: How did our marketing impact the business?
Finally, never underestimate the people behind your brand.
When your team believes in the mission, they become your strongest marketers without even trying.
Good marketing doesn’t have to be loud.
It’s smarter, customer-focused, and driven by business results.
