When you look at what’s happening in countries like China and other advanced economies, you notice how infrastructure is being designed to serve more than one purpose. Solar panels are now being integrated along fence lines, quietly doing double duty by generating electricity while also functioning as security barriers. It’s efficient, practical, and honestly a smart use of limited space. The kind of thinking that turns ordinary structures into productive assets.
If such systems were introduced at scale in Nigeria today, however, the risk of vandalism and theft would be a serious concern. Public infrastructure too often becomes an easy target for criminal damage, which discourages investment and slows development. For meaningful progress to occur, there must be stronger legal consequences and more consistent enforcement against those who sabotage or steal public assets. Without protecting what we build, growth becomes difficult, and matching the pace of more developed nations remains an uphill task.
