Celebrating the Strength, Creativity and Responsibility of Young People

As Nigeria joins young people and communities around the world in commemorating National Youth Day 2026, the Chief Executive Officer of Unity Station Awareness (uSA Nigeria), Ziyaulhaq Abdulnasir Ali, extends warm greetings and a message of hope, unity and renewed commitment to the advancement of humanity.

This year’s celebration provides an important opportunity to recognize the enormous potential of young people as innovators, entrepreneurs, peacebuilders, community leaders and agents of positive transformation.

Youth are not merely leaders of tomorrow. They are partners and leaders in shaping the future today.

Unity in Diversity: Our Greatest Strength

Nigeria’s greatest assets extend beyond its natural resources. Our people, cultures, languages, traditions, ideas and diverse experiences represent a powerful foundation upon which a peaceful and prosperous nation can be built.

uSA Nigeria therefore calls on young Nigerians to embrace unity without uniformity, diversity without division, and ambition without violence.

Our differences should not become barriers to cooperation. Instead, they should provide opportunities for learning from one another, building bridges across communities and creating solutions that benefit everyone.

Advancing Sustainable Development and Peace

The challenges facing Nigeria and the wider world require collective responsibility. Young people must be encouraged and empowered to participate meaningfully in education, technology, entrepreneurship, environmental protection, social innovation, community development and peacebuilding.

We must promote a culture where disagreements are resolved through dialogue, where opportunities are pursued through merit and hard work, and where development is measured not only by economic growth but also by the wellbeing, dignity and security of our people.

uSA Nigeria believes that sustainable development and lasting peace are inseparable. A peaceful society creates room for innovation and development, while inclusive development strengthens the foundations of peace.

On this National Youth Day, I call upon young people across Nigeria and around the world to reject hatred, intolerance, violence, discrimination and division.

Let us choose:

Peace over conflict.
Dialogue over hostility.
Knowledge over ignorance.
Innovation over stagnation.
Service over selfishness.
Sustainable development over short-term interests.

Let us use our voices, talents and platforms responsibly to inspire positive change.

The future we desire will not be created by waiting for someone else to build it. It will be built through the choices, courage and collective action of people who believe that a better world is possible.
