Reading a quote in an article from Facebook made me think about my journey from being a scuba instructor π‘ to a corporate guy, to a startup founder to a FB marketer to the M**O Botfather π, to my first international speaking gig in August at Depesh Mandalia's mastermind. π€―
Facebook stated: "Businesses use Messenger in many different ways, but generating leads is one of the most common use cases we've seen on the platform"
In a nutshell... π₯
3 years ago I joined Cat Howell's academy.
I didn't really knew what I got into but I took a leap of faith and from that point on I never looked back.
In the first 6 months or so of that journey generating leads was the main goal. Leads from prospects who were looking to scale π their business using FB ads.
The main driver that brought in these leads was a good "hook" FB ads and a budget to get these ads out into the world.
Little did I knew what would happen next...
Yes, I landed quite a few clients, some were awesome some were let's say not a good fit. You live and learn. π
Moving forward I got more and more in the flow of generating and closing leads, things became and are quite steady and predictable. Which is a good thing! π
One year in I ran into this new tool called ManyChat.
As a sufferer from the shiny object π syndrome π€ͺ I jumped on it and tried to figure out what it was and how it all worked.
These where the early days of Manychat and messenger marketing in general. Nevertheless, it clicked with me and I didnβt let go.
Why am I sharing all this?
Because sometimes you need to take a leap of faith. π
Sometimes you need to dive in head first without exactly knowing what is around the corner.
Joining the Academy back then enabled me to start and grow a new business from the ground. Looking back It enabled me to specialise in Messenger Marketing which was never the plan.
The messenger marketing pivot gave me new energy a new angle and it awesome to see the blue ocean that lies in front of us.
This blue ocean π inspired me to create new products like the bots for ecom project we are working on or the messenger fundamentals course or the templates and strategies that will help product owners leverage messenger to prepare for Q4 a.k.a Holliday Season. πππ―ββοΈ
At the same time, the messenger marketing pivot enabled me to create content which helps others forward.
Creating this content gave me a legit reason to start Bots + Beers π€π» and it gave me a reason to interact in different groups vs lurking in the dark.
Being active in these groups sparked new friendships, JVβs but also a **ton of leads and actual business** which enabled me to join Depesh's inner circle last month, which led to the invitation to speak at his Mastermind. π¨
Because of the leaps of faith, I took in the last 3 years I am now slowly taking myself out of the business enabling me to focus on business development, content creation and trying to help people forward where I can.
And yet again this results in epic opportunities that come my way from individuals and companies I never thought I would ever work with.
