During Kingpins 2022, the international denim trade show, a denim exhibition featured a selection of highlights from Jean School graduates, created during their studies & currently working in the denim industry worldwide. Jean School is an initiative of ROC van Amsterdam, House of Denim and HTNK International in collaboration with major, international players from the denim & fashion industry. This was truly a bright(er) blue week with the kickoff at Kingpins Amsterdam, the international denim tradeshow. This event hosted 104 exhibitors, including fabric manufacturers, and garment makers, along with fiber, chemical and technical specialists from the global denim and fashion market, all focused on presenting their newest developments and innovations such as, for instance, their most advanced and newest sustainable projects and most interesting s/s 2024 highlights. Thank you for this amazing edition.

50 shades of blue, because there were many things to celebrate this week: 10 years of Jean School, 12.5 years of House of Denim & 7 years of Denim City.

HTNK is looking for The Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI), part of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, for a Director of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (1.0 fte).

We are looking for an experienced Director who directs this educational institute with head and heart, which consists of passionate and talented students and employees.

AMFI is the largest fashion institute in the Netherlands and covers the entire fashion chain. AMFI trains talented students for careers in fashion with a teaching team of approximately 140 employees.

Mariette Hoitink, owner of HTNK International & co-founder of Lichting (NL), was part of the fashion design jury of International Diploma Selection during Designblok 22 in Prague last Saturday.
International Diploma Selection showcases the work of Europe's most talented graduates in product and fashion design at Designblok. The winner, second and third prize was chosen by an international jury, consisting of Noémie Schwaller & Anna Nosková. All with a different perspective, profession & passion.

The jury has chosen the winner .va second place and third place . Congratulations to those talents, we can't wait to see more of you!

On behalf of HTNK thank you so much for all the good care, inspiration and wonderful encounters . It truly was an edition that opened many interesting doors. Last, but definitely not least, a big applause to the production & for their amazing work.

Denim Days on the wayyyy💥

Since 2014, each year Amsterdam turns blue and forms the center of attention for all those with an indigo heart. Denim Days brings together the community and consumers, addicts and fanatics, brands and buyers, to celebrate its unique denim passion.

Denim Days unite all denim lovers to share their dedication for denim and to spread the word about innovation and sustainability.

On October 21 and 22, the Hallen will be transformed into a brighter blue environment, with Denim City at its beating heart. Entrance is free, wearing denim is mandatory ;-)

Lichting 2022 candidate Bryan Borghans trades Amsterdam Fashion Week for International Diploma Selection during Designblok in Prague!

International Diploma Selection showcases the work of Europe's most talented graduates in product and fashion design at Designblok. The winners of both categories receive a financial prize of EUR 1,000 and the opportunity to present their work at the next Designblok. Lichting incredibly proud that Denzel has been nominated!

Bryan Borghans graduated from the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 2022 and did an internship as a design assistant at Ronald van der Kemp. He designs at the intersection of couture and ready-to-wear to create luxury designs with an eye for detail. With a strong drive to keep improving, Bryan combines craftsmanship and awareness to work with integrity and forward-thinking with a key core value of stopping waste. His world changed from 2015, the moment he walked into Tomorrowlands’ Dreamville. In real life, however, he feels we live in a super-diverse, rapidly changing society where habits, norms and values are under pressure and we are constantly judged. To have an escape from this reality, he tried to capture his feeling at Dreamville in his collection. Immerse yourself in his ultimate escape and overwhelming feeling of great happiness: the feeling of EXTASE22.

From the submitted projects, the curatorial board selects a line-up of finalists who will present their diploma works to an international jury at Designblok. Designblok, Prague International Design Festival is the largest design and fashion show in Central Europe. It was founded in 1999 and every year it presents new products by designers and manufacturers with an emphasis on Czech design and creations from the regions of Central Europe.

Lichting 2022 candidate Denzel Veerkamp trades Amsterdam Fashion Week for International Diploma Selection during Designblok in Prague!

International Diploma Selection showcases the work of Europe's most talented graduates in product and fashion design at Designblok. The winners of both categories receive a financial prize of EUR 1,000 and the opportunity to present their work at the next Designblok. As co-founder of Lichting, HTNK is incredibly proud that Denzel has been nominated.

Denzels graduation collection ‘The rebound Parley’, is a translation of his critical view on his experience as a mixed person of color in a post-colonial Netherlands, alongside a manifestation against the destructive fashion industry. Intimate and intriguing cultural analyses triggered him to review his own existence and experiences, as a Black man growing up in the Netherlands, on a deeper level. To protest the privileged perception of how textiles are being valorized in the West, the collection is made fully from post-consumer textiles, in collaboration with Leger des Heils (Salvation Army). As a statement he deconstructed the clothes by use of a ruler, mimicking the often ‘forgotten’ historical event of the Berlin Conference of 1884, where the continent of Africa was divided amongst European imperialist powers.

Ruben Jurrien won Lichting 2022!

On September 2nd, Ruben Jurrien was crowned as the winner of Lichting 2022 by the international panel. The panel applauded Ruben for his authentic and genuine concept and well executed and polished collection. “Ruben brings a fresh wind to fashion with his childlike sense of excitement and innovative thinking”.

Lichting was founded to bridge the gap between the academies and students on the one side and the talent-hungry fashion industry on the other, with the aim to stimulate emerging talent towards a viable career. Lichting is an initiative of Amsterdam Fashion Week en HTNK International and supported by Meester Koetsier Foundation and Van Kaam IP, Media & Privacy.
