What’s your favorite tomato recipe? 🍅

Rosan is putting together a tomato-themed cookbook and is looking for all things tomato: from family recipes and personal stories, to kitchen photos and historical documents.

Do you have a much-loved recipe you’d like to share, or is there someone she should definitely speak with? Let us know!

How do you visualize something that, by definition, you can't see?

But hey, we like a challenge! So when the Dutch Black Hole Consortium asked us to design their logo, we took a shot for the stars (haha) and set out to design something you can't actually see. After some fruitless experimenting with milky way spiral shapes and black dots, we settled on using the negative space of the letters in their acronym to shape out the logo. A simple way to visualize the invisible.

The Dutch Black Hole Consortium is a group of 30+ scientists, carrying out an interdisciplinary black hole research program throughout the Netherlands.

Last slide: the first 'image' of a black hole (Jean-Pierre Luminet, 1979).

We had a great conversation with from , who interviewed us about our creative process and design philosophy for Morgen, the magazine of .

One of the topics we discussed was how you can make a design ‘futureproof’ as a graphic designer. For us, sustainable thinking is about creating designs in a very content driven way. For a one-time event – like a birth card or a concert poster – our designs can be expressive, elaborate and contemporary. But when we design a visual identity for a company, we try to create a very adaptive and 'quiet' design system. If an identity is supposed to last for years, we want the design to be subtle and to give room for the identity to slowly grow over time.

This is also what we love about Dutch design from the past and present: it often feels simple and effortless, but it's always very thoughtful. The identity of the Stedelijk by Mevis & Van Deursen or the beautiful line drawings from Dick Bruna – they both share that same visual language, that is both simple and playful.

A fun and colourful photoshoot for .nl with at . For this shoot we we're inspired by product placement in movies – a marketing technique where you'll 'casually' spot a Coca Cola bottle in the midst of a film scene. With lots of props (including the old wallet of Rosan's grandmother), we created different sets for the Cineville card to appear in.

It hailed, snowed and rained the day of the shoot, so when the sun suddenly broke through and we were able to take a summer picture on the terrace, it felt a bit like magic.

Thanks to .nienke and for the production and hand modeling and to the team of for letting us play around all day. And of course many thanks to photographer for the gorgeous pictures!

It’s been a while, but we’ve started working on the Kite Archive again!

The Kite Archive is a visual research project in which we celebrate the playfulness and craftsmanship of kites.

Pictured here are some amazing kite designs from Charles M. Miller’s The construction and flying of kites (1909) and Kitecraft and Kite Tournaments (1914), which we edited into a poster design.

The Amsterdamse School is a style of architecture that created dozens of beautiful brick buildings in our city. One of these is De Telefoondienst, a former telephone exchange in the east of Amsterdam. This building from 1923 is being carefully transformed into an apartment complex, combined with office spaces and artists workshops.

asked us to design a visual identity and website for the project. For the typography we chose to work with Europa, a contemporary font inspired by the Futura and the Gill Sans – two famous typefaces from the 1920s. The intertwining o's in the logo are also a nod to the past: we found that they were a returning detail in the original blue prints and decorative letters above the entrances.

has done a beautiful job in re-imagining the building, by creating a new layer upon the existing structure, in line with the symmetry of the initial design. On the website you can find all the information about the future plans for De Telefoondienst. It's really inspiring to work on this project, which brings together the history, architecture and future of our beloved city.

Lavett is a bakery in Utrecht with sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls and pastry. Their delicious bakes are all organic (and mostly vegan!).

The bakery opened its doors in 2021 and from the start we've worked on many aspects of their brand identity: from a website to window lettering and from packaging to promotional flyers and posters. There are even Opinel knifes and granola dispensers with the Lavett logo!

It's such a fun project that – like a good dough 😉 – keeps developing over time. Make sure to visit them at the Eendrachtslaan (where you can see the bakers at work) or head over to Kaffeetaria to get a taste of their delicious bakes.

Recently we designed birth cards for Jacob and Jakob (do two names make a trend?). For both cards, the parents wanted a design similair to a riso printed card we made a while back. The amazing people at did a great job printing these and we love the vibrant colours in both designs.

It's such an amazing thing to design something that is so precious and festive. Best of luck to the parents of Jacob and Jakob, that they may grow up to love the mountains and the sea!

In collaboration with the amazing people of brewery Brouwerij De Prael we designed the packaging for these special beers for AHAM Vastgoed.

The beers were completely custom made – one is an Indian Pale Ale with pineapple and orange peel, the other a Triple with adjuma pepper and lemongrass. It was so much fun to visit the brewery and see brewer Fer Kok work on these recipes with enthusiasm and curiosity.

They both taste amazing, cheers!
