We often say it and we often hear it: trying new things is hard! Change can be uncomfortable and frustrating, to say the least.😖

Learning to work in a new way can be just that, uncomfortable and frustrating but also exciting. That’s exactly how you’ll feel during a workshopping experience. But no need to , this is one of the reasons why are there. I’ll guide you through the emotions of the day so you don’t have to wonder why you're feeling certain things and whether it's normal or not. Knowing that you'll be feeling frustrated or angry, makes it easier for you (and me!) to let go and truly .

Tapping into the creative mind -- Design the box.

Creativity is not just for the artists. But business people sometimes need an extra push, so why not make it a game?
You see, games are worlds which evolve in stages. You can imagine, create, open, explore and close the world. And is about creating these worlds specifically to explore and question challenges to improve collaboration, generate new insights and see what type of possibilities we can find.

When a presents itself, we rarely find the EXACT solution we’re looking for. Games that explore can help you make and break patterns. In this case, the point of the ‘Design the box’ is for teams to make decisions about important features and other aspects of their vision that are more difficult to articulate. They ultimately create the box to sell their idea to other teams.

Here’s how it goes:
🗣 Choose the topic for the design.
Give the just enough information about what could be in the box. Think along the lines of names of the idea, possible customers or end users, features, functions, etc.

🎨 It’s time to create!
Give the teams about 30mins to create their box. They should imagine seeing the box on a shelf somewhere and ready for sale. In creating the box, they can think about
What’s it called?
Who’s it for?
What’s its slogan?
What are its benefits?

🧾 Sell. Sell. Sell.
Now, each team has to their box to the group. As a facilitator, look for any breakthroughs as they present. Often, people translate features into benefits when selling.

If you want to go a step further and need an agreement on what’s next, write down the differences and similarities of each box, and continue building the session on that.

Icebreakers are essential to ANY session.

We'd like to share one of our go to exercises that works EVERY TIME no matter the crowd.

What you need:
Blank papers, colouring pencils, funky music.

The exercise:
1️⃣ Give everyone a piece of blank paper
2️⃣ Everyone will partner up with one person. They will draw each other
3️⃣ Every time you put on music (time it to 10-15 seconds) people will have to draw any face part that you mention (eg left eye). When the music stops, they find another partner
4️⃣ Start the music again and mention another face part (eg hair)
5️⃣go-to Continue doing this until you have mentioned every face part

This icebreaker will allow everyone to get out of their heads and tune into their creativity.

Whenever new teams are formed it's a challenge to get everyone on the same page. This is a great moment to create a team contract and co-define team rules and behaviours with all members.

The team contract is a canvas for increasing psychological safety in teams by discussing key topics.

Team Contracts are generally created:
🎢 at the beginning of projects
🤝 when new teams are formed
👋 when new talents join an existing team
🏁 when radical changes require the team to reboot
