WILHELMINA DRUCKER COMMEMORATION CAMPAIGN

Visual communication design

Wilhelmina Drucker was a notable radical feminist of Amsterdam from 1847–1925. From 1888 onwards, she devoted herself to the struggle for equality between men and women, regardless of the differences based on social standing, origin, political affiliation, or worldview.

December 5, 2025 marked one hundred years since her death and to commemorate this occasion, the Wilhelmina Drucker Foundation (WDF) and Van Gisteren selected fifteen locations in Amsterdam that honour the life and struggle of this remarkable woman.

Did you know that Dolle Mina, one of the most iconic feminist movements in the Netherlands, was named after Wilhelmina Drucker?

BUROBRAAK developed a visual campaign which began as a series of animated posters displayed in the metro stations of Amsterdam. We also developed posters and flyers which brought more visibility during the commemorative event.

WILHELMINA DRUCKER COMMEMORATION CAMPAIGN

Pop-up exhibition design

Wilhelmina Drucker was a notable radical feminist in Amsterdam (1847–1925). From 1888 onwards, she devoted herself to the fight for equality between men and women, transcending differences in social standing, origin, political affiliation, or worldview.

December 5, 2025 marked one hundred years since her death. To commemorate this occasion, the Wilhelmina Drucker Foundation (WDF) and Van Gisteren selected fifteen locations across Amsterdam that honour the life and struggle of this remarkable woman.

Did you know that Dolle Mina, one of the most iconic feminist movements in the Netherlands, was named after her?

We developed an outdoor exhibition next to her monument on Churchilllaan in Amsterdam Zuid, engaging passersby directly in the public space. At BUROBRAAK, we are driven by activating the city and making knowledge accessible by embedding it into the urban fabric.

MIKEL HAMAN AWARD 2025

Visual communication and award design for the Mikel Haman Foundation

The Mikel Haman award was founded in 2018 to celebrate Q***r People of Color in their contributions to furthering the rights, visibility, and access to resources of the q***r communities in the Netherlands at large. In 2025 the award was presented to Ryan Ramharak (they/he) at Roze Kwaku on July 20th in Nelson Mandel park in Amsterdam Zuidoost. The other nominees were Libya Wachter and Nellie Bakboord.

Ramharak is a trans non-binary Dutch-Hindustani Diversity and Inclusion Officer at a major university and is most well known for their work as a trans non-binary parent writing a book “Hoe ik baba werd”. They share experiences and insights regarding trans parenthood, breaking taboos and creating space for other LGBTQIA+ people with a desire to have children. Additionally, he founded the Zeepaardjesgroep, a community for trans and non-binary people with a desire to have children, and gives workshops to healthcare professionals on inclusive birth care.

At BUROBRAAK, we strive to create more visibility for q***r activists of color with a long record of social activism. The work that they do ripples through both their own communities, and also every layer of society. Q***r liberation is the liberation of all people. This year we developed the visual communications including the collateral, and banners for the ceremony.

COMMEMORATION OF VICTIMS OF FATAL POLICE INCIDENTS - LEEUWARDEN

Outdoor pop-up exhibition design for Control Alt Delete

Since 2016 there have been over 100 deaths caused by police violence here in the Netherlands (and growing). Controle Alt Delete is a Dutch independent organisation aimed at exposing the violence perpetrated by the police is keeping an active database of fatal incidents. This installation aims to bring awareness to this issue by activating public space.

The installation was built as a memorial using tiles which document victims of force and their stories. The first iteration was on Dam Square in Amsterdam in the summer of 2023 where there were performances and speeches to grieve the loss of these lives. The second iteration was presented outside the Second Chamber in The Hague a year later. This third iteration was displayed in Leeuwarden in 2025. Unfortunately, 12 more people have died at the hands of the police since the previous memorial.

BUROBRAAK was responsible for the conceptualisation, design, production and managed installation of this piece.

DE ZWARTE AGENDA AMERSFOORT

Visual identity design

De Zwarte Agenda is a series of seven meetings held in 2025, created for the Black community in Amersfoort to come together and discuss what is needed to grow and strengthen within the city. These gatherings are by and for the Black community, including Surinamese, African, Caribbean diaspora, and other Afro-diasporic communities. The conversations cover topics such as healthcare, education, parenting, entrepreneurship, leisure, discrimination, and more.

BUROBRAAK developed the visual identity for this initiative, as well as flyers and posters to help reach a wider audience and bring more people together. The goal is to create space for dialogue on how communities can grow and thrive.

Through our work, we aim to support marginalized communities in coming together, advocating for their rights and needs, and gaining better access to resources.

HARDOP. DE KUNST VAN HET DECLAMEREN

Visual identity design

A wish of Dichter der Nederlanden Babs Gons is to involve more people in poetry, to celebrate poetry with more people. That is why she joined forces with a number of organisations and thus 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼𝗽! was born. The idea behind Hardop! is to encourage and challenge people, young and old, with or without (language) disabilities, hearing and non-hearing, to memorise their favourite poems and perform them publicly. Initially, this will include a database of poems and instructional videos created by inspiring poets and poetry enthusiasts.

BUROBRAAK created the visual identity for this project.
