& animations themed around the bicycle. Advertising special bicycles and cycling accessories. Highlighting current themes like safety, slowing-down and sustainability. Improving biking skills of visitors and contestants, using Slowbiking or other (cycle) workshops. Raising environmental awareness by using fully or partly recyclable bicycles during activities. Slowbiking: a fun and entertaining event around the bike and braking. What is Slowbiking? In this context it means biking as slow as possible on a 11 meter track accompanied by live music. As the world around us is fast-paced, we go back to first gear to snap out of the daily rush. Aim is to bike as slow as possible … as long as possible without crossing the lane and without touching the ground. This project has been realized in Zurich, Beijing and Maastricht and every time it was striking that passersby quickly got excited and wanted to participate in this contest. Because of the humor and the presence of an enthusiastic presenter, people step out of their comfort zone and participate. The improvised music by live musician makes it even more exciting.
