Opening and book presentation of Blood bonds: Reconciliation in Post-Genocide Rwanda .hilversum. Photos by . . Every war eventually comes to an end. Leaving survivors, family members, perpetrators. Those who looked on and those who looked away. How do you heal? How do you move on. In Rwanda they made use of the method known as Mvura Nkuvure: I heal you, you heal me. Victims and perpetrators who confronted one another as enemies, are relating to one anotherβs suffering and achieving reconciliation. With astonishing results. Enemies become good neighbors, even friends. Each and every one says they feel like a human being again. Jan Banning and Dirk Wittenberg portray unlikely pairs, in pictures and in words. Our design is simple but effective. The burnt orange on the walls echoes the red earth, effectively enhancing the intensity of the portraits.
