Warm Protest is a project that is very close to my heart. After presenting it at , , and , we captured it with an amazing team. 💕

We’re very excited to share a selection of the images we created together!

The project began with the creation of a series of protest scarves, born from the dream of to bring wearable pieces of protest into the world. Change is needed, and spreading the message and starting conversations can happen anywhere, anytime.

The scarves are silkscreened and made from second-hand textiles, sourced at . We first presented the project during at Object, and later expanded it by creating sweaters around the Dutch Design Week.

A true dream team made it all happen:

This weekend is the last chance to visit the exhibition about the work of artist Giselle Kuster (Venlo, 1911 – Heerlen, 1972). The exhibition showcases her drawings, paintings, sculptures, and fashion pieces.
Giselle lived and worked in various Dutch cities and abroad, and her life served as inspiration for the exhibition design. She grew up in her parents’ fabric store in Venlo. For the entrance, I designed a fabric-layered gate featuring her name, welcoming visitors into her world. Through the use of color and duotone imagery, the exhibition became a vibrant and impressive experience for visitors.

Women are still underrepresented in museum collections today. Showcasing more work by female artists — both historical and contemporary — helps redress this imbalance. As a female designer, it feels incredibly meaningful to contribute to this process.

I’m really really happy and proud of the colorful result. Huge thanks to and for the amazing and inspiring collaboration — it’s been such an honor! This was truly a fun project to work on. 💕

In our home, we love experimenting with different color combinations. The blend of soft yellow and lilac, accented with a touch of orange, creates a sparkling atmosphere in the space above the stairwell. The neon yellow and vibrant cobalt blue of the stairs to the attic offer a true visual feast. Along with the colors, we thought it would be wonderful to display my precious dream wedding dress, custom made by the truly amazing 💕 In the stairwell we added a rhino mask made from trash from an artist in Cape town, South Africa. And made an artwork of a soft neon pink octopus with neon and pastel tones corals. We framed it in a frame made of residual material of the kitchen counter by the lovely .baas

Thank you again so much VTWonen, Dana van Leeuwen, and Ilona Jongepier Aryati Blonk for this article – it feels like a gift of a lifetime!

“Outside the Lines” (translated from Buiten de Lijntjes) is the title of the article in VT Wonen. It’s such a gift to have these wonderful images of our interior and to have our story written down. Precious is the word that comes to mind. Let me tell you a bit more about what you see.

1. I looove the table in the shape of a marshmallow. One of the things .dijkgraaf and I share is our passion for nature. That’s why we love having items in our home that refer to nature, such as the cute mouse holding a lamp. And the very cosy loveseat? It is the Passe Partout pastille Swing.

2.When we moved to our new paradise, we already knew: the stairs needed to become an eye-catcher. Starting with the idea of gradient stairs, we made a lot of sketches to find the perfect colors. We ended up with a palette of shades of sea green, pink, and lilac, which create a colorful connection with the floor, kitchen, and the first floor.

3. In our home, you’ll find a lot of treasures and objects with a story. One of the things we love to do is give new life to old objects—whether they’re gifts from friends or family or items we’ve thrifted—by painting them. We found the pink Art Deco lamp on Marktplaats and gave it a blue cord.

4. Pixar, LEGO, books, funny objects… We are proud collectors of things we love or that attract us. Objects with stories, many of which we found in secondhand stores or flea markets. These lthings make a home personal and a place you love to be in, a place where you feel at home. The blue mountain (a sugar sprinkler) was a tip from and I bought it at

5. One side of the kitchen is quite calm in its shapes and colors. The other side, however, is one big collage of posters and prints. Over the years, we’ve built a colorful collection of posters, silkscreens, and risographs. On the wall, we’ve also added some work that I’ve made myself, as well as pieces created by my students.

6. I love the name of the article. Thank you, team VT Wonen, for this lovely edition. We’re super happy! photos by styling

Glitters, colors, craftsmanship, and a touch of neon—these words describe our kitchen. For this project, we had an amazing and inspiring collaboration with product designer and craftsman .baas . The details, the forms—everything turned out wonderfully, and we are absolutely in love with the end result. The kitchen became a statement piece in our home that perfectly fits our taste and style. The countertop was created through a flourishing teamwork effort with and .baas, featuring recycled plastic from waste streams combined with glitter and colorful beads.

I’m super thrilled to share that our home (.dijkgraaf and I) and interior were featured in a lovely article in VT Wonen’s special DIY edition for November. I must admit, for me that is a dream coming true. You can still find it in your local store or order it online (link in my bio). Looking back at one of my favorite printed matter projects: a shiny and glittering card that I created a few years ago. The production of the card was partly made by hand. I created 3 versions: an iridescent, a metallic lilac and a metallic pink version. I can’t deny, I love the festive vibe of the card.💖

To add depth to the artworks, we’ve incorporated colored shadows, chosen to enhance the colors and visual quality of the artworks.

The cover typography features a blue shiny foil set on Wibalin paper in petal color, complemented by yellow neon yarn binding for a striking combination. The title is designed to evoke themes of biography and science, with a schematic-inspired layout that can be interpreted in multiple ways. Myriad Ways of Being, Being of Myriad Ways.

The book, printed in full color by , perfectly captures the essence of the body of work of .albers. I’m thrilled with how the colors complement the art.

To enhance the typography, I’ve customized each title to reflect the unique style of .albers. The typography and gradients on the text pages create a seamless connection between the textual and visual aspects of the book.

The tiniest of beings, the boundless expanse of the universe, the wonders of science... all serve as wellsprings of inspiration for the talented and vibrant painter .albers

Described by publisher , visual artist Simone Albers (1990) delves into the hidden mechanisms that underlie our perceptible reality. Albers captures its intricacies in vivid landscapes, where swirling shapes and galaxies intermingle, drawing viewers into a cosmic journey.

It was an absolute pleasure and a privilege to design the layout for her latest and debut artist book. Guided by the insightful curator and publisher , we embarked on a creative adventure. I aimed to create a book that provides ample space for Albers’ work to breathe. The text pages feature complementary gradients, while the cover boasts striking blue foil typography. Bound with a vibrant neon yellow thread, the book is a visual feast.

Stay tuned for more updates! In the meantime, if you’re interested in purchasing the book, you can order it directly from . Check the link in my bio for more details. printed by

Happy February 13! ✨️ I am excited to share that you can find my work on this day in this years De Grote NL24 Kunstkalender Together with other artists, illustrators and designers, you can ‘sparkle up’ your home or office with this huge calendar. And you’ll discover everyday work made by Dutch creatives.

I was asked to submit my work a year ago, and that was exactly the question I needed to make space for creating new work.

‘Journey of a Soap Bubble’ is a series in which I capture the short lives of the always changing and floating spheres of flying atoms. Every bubble I capture has its own character, and therefore its own name. The plan is to continue this series the coming years and create a whole family. Last winter I captured some new characters in Curaçao. Curious where the project will bring me next.

Interested in the calendar? You can order it online at bol.com or bruna 💕

Throwback Thursday! 🌟 So it is already a year ago that I received this wonderful news. The longer I waited with sharing, the more silly and embarrassed I felt that I waited so long. But I thought… A new year, new goals! Achievements in any scale are worth sharing. So, drum roll…

The book I created for the architecture group AetA, won two International Design Awards 2022! Gold in the category Annual Reports and Silver in the Books. The IDA is an annual design award show that started in 2007. With an international jury and based in Los Angeles USA, the IDA is an award of global scale. I am very thrilled and deeply honored that the book I created was loved by this international jury. ✨️

The award ceremony was held in April 2023 in China. Although I really would have looooved to visit China (I mean, hello, they have wild 🐼), I only wanted to go there if could make an extended trip to travel around the country. Or else it didn’t feel right (in terms of time, effort and my carbon footprint) to only travel for the ceremony. And at that time I couldn’t find this time to do so. So that made me decide to stay in NL. But still - without being there on the stage - I am so truly grateful to be in the list of winners of this international award. It feels quite unreal actually.

Thank you so much for the amazing recognition. I think that award shows such as IDA are very inspiring for creators to keep doing what they are doing and to inspire others in the field. Blessed to be in this new community of creators.

And if you any of my followers are doubting to send in your work for an award show because you think it isn’t good enough... I encourage you to do so and just give it a try. For me it really helps in my career, for example in terms of growing self confidence. And no, not every time you might score, but if you don’t try... 💝 I have created a podcast (Dutch spoken) about this subject with ✨️ Curious what you think!

The Power of the Throne: A Symbol of Power exhibition showcases an exclusive piece of furniture reserved for the highest authority, be it royal or divine. I had the pleasure of creating the graphic design for this remarkable exhibit, alongside the incredible (exhibition design) and the magical , who brought it to life. A delightful adventure! 👑

Abstract references to the throne’s influence, like being on a stage or in a spotlight, create an immersive experience. Each exhibition space has a unique color and form palette that complements its theme, forming a cohesive vibe. Walking through the exhibit feels like traversing different parts of one world.

The graphic design features text boards at various levels, seamlessly blending with backgrounds on an object level and standing out as eye-catching elements for theme texts. Don’t miss this enchanting journey! 🌈✨

I am sooooo happy with the result! You can still visit the exhibition until March 10 at . Next week I will share some more photo’s, stay tuned! 💕✨ 📸 photography by
