On Monnett I’m participating in an Art & Design challenge. This one is the Art Deco movement. My inspiration was a ring in the tv-program “Tussen kunst and kitsch”. I tried to find a similar ring in the internet but that was not easy. I found one on Etsy (slide 2) that is different but could have been my inspiration haha.
You could use the seamless patterns as a statement piece, but also as a blender/coordinate pattern depending on the scale. What would you choose?

When you design a collection that is a kind of artsy and doesn’t have to do with on trend topics it still is lovely after 5 years of designing it.
I’m happy that I finally sewed this wrap top to show you that this can be perfectly worn today. And besides the pattern is lovely as a garment but I can see it in relation to business in the restaurant sector. My whole “Sliced Shapes” collection is related to food, but in an artsy way.

And a second faux ice dyeing pattern based on a photo taken from a part of my snow covered garden.
It has the effect from ice dyeing.

Iced dyeing is a way to dye for instance a t-shirt that is pleated in a certain way and then covered with pigments and ice cubes. The melting ice cubes transport the pigments onto the garment. But the slow drops from the melting ice cubes together with the folds make certain patterns that look similar to what I see in this pattern here. Do you like the blue one or the pink one in my previous post more?

The last few days we head some snowy days. Although I stayed at home I took some pictures from my little garden. And one picture particular got my attention. It showed a kind of grid on the pavement… it looked a kind of pavement but it was only a small part in my garden that show a grid. I made a quick photo with my phone as a kind of evidence when I would talk about during dinner time, and maybe the circumstances outside would change.
I have no explanation why this part of the garden showed this pattern.
At the same time I was thinking that I was seeing patterns because of being a surface pattern designer.
And that got me thinking today to play a bit with the snow…. See if I could pour out a design.
Let me know if you think I did. I call it faux ice dying. A technique that I practice too… sometimes.
And I used my sewn jumper as a mock up. If you want to see the real jumper head over to .
Always nice if you can use your work in multiple ways.

Give your bed and breakfast an identity instead of choosing plane off-white for convenience. Or for the idea that not having any ambiance attracts everyone who is looking for an accommodation.

Instead you will see that people that book your place will remember it better. They will know if they slept in a blue or pink room. It adds to there visit.

If you dare to choose for colour the experience of your audience will be more colourful too.
Dare to ‘speak out’ and you will attract customers.

Oh, and I would choose a different mirror, and also what a strange place for it to hang. You have to stand on your bed to see if your hair sits right.

Thank you for sharing your picture for this purpose.

If you are a stylist or a company that is looking for a surface designer and you like what you see, please reach out to me.

I came across this little bag and immediately fell in love with it. It is tiny, has dimension and would be great for my sewing student to put her earplugs in.

Because it is tiny it doesn’t mean it equals easy. I think this mistake can be easily made.

So in the first 3 slides you can see how it looks with different fabrics I designed and which are available for licensing.
In the last 3 slides I show my own bag pattern.
It is specially made with sanitary napkins in mind. It’s big enough but still compact so it fits easily in the pocket of your jeans. And that can be very handy in many circumstances!

You can find this fun pattern of little bloom from at .de
And you can find BloomBag in the Netherlands at farm shop or at fairs I attend. You can always reach out to me through DM.

Interested in my design collection “Mix it your way” please get in touch and I can sent you a link to my portfolio.

Geïnteresseerd in naailessen voor beginners, dm me voor een link naar mijn Google form voor meer info. In september begint een nieuwe module (omgeving Tilburg)
