Work is best when you do it with friends. It was a pleasure to develop the new version of Nirali Surati’s Tales on Silk website. Tales on Silk aims to showcase lesser know art and artisans from India, check the shop, check the blog, check it all 🙂

Spent half a day saving a client’s website from extinction. Severe lack of maintenance, redundant plug-ins, plug-ins installed but never configured, installed plug-ins not updated by the developer in over 10 years… a masterclass on bad practices. Evidently a vulnerability was exploited and the site crashed.
After cleaning out basically all the files, tweaking server parameters and clearing most of the mess the site is back online. It will stay so until I’m finished with building the new version and then this Frankenstein of code can be put to rest.

Very happy to have built the Storians website, a content developing agency based in London using stories to develop brand identity. Being storytelling one of the most ancient rituals in human history it was fundamental for this organisation that their website came across as modern and sophisticated. Animations and element interactions were then used across the website to this effect whilst keeping simplicity and readability as a priority.
The website integrates also the organisation podcast series, one of their storytelling pillars.

I have built the website for PLUK de NACHT - Open Air Film Festival in 2016, it's a super cool open air film festival and it was a huge project to carry out. I planned its functionality to last at least a decade without major code changes. It houses current and previous editions of the festival in different locations, sells tickets has a merchandise shop and a kick ass search functionality. We've changed a bit the way the site looks with each new edition and updates and enhancements were made, but at core it's still exactly what I planned it to be. I'm happy to see the festival grow and thrive and love that the site handles all their new endeavours. Go be surprised with Pluk's movie selection, or even go and be a volunteer! Very proud to have built this!
http://maastricht1992.nl/ is a Maastricht Working on Europe project that aims to gather the stories and memories of people that were in Maastricht during the summit where the treaty was signed. In the future it will also showcase visitor submitted stories and anecdotes of those unique times.
Once again, for me it feels full circle as my life as it is now wouldn't really had been possible without this treaty.

Als je wilt weten waar Europese integratie over gaat, wat het betekent voor jou, in je dagelijks leven, dan kun je naar Brussel. Je kunt ook gewoon de straat op, de hoek om en op onderzoek gaan in je eigen buurt. Dat hebben we gedaan. In de Maastrichtse wijk Heer, een van de vele bijzondere ‘gewone’ wijken die Europa rijk is. 🏡

In juni en juli onderzochten we samen met Dear Hunter en Are We Europe hoe Europese besluiten en idealen, lokale gemeenschappen beïnvloeden. Veel buurtbewoners kwamen langs bij ons basiskamp op het Raadhuisplein. Lokale journalisten gingen op zoek naar verhalen van bewoners over veiligheid, de duurzame transitie en ondernemerschap in de grensregio.
Het laat zien dat de onderwerpen die in Brussel en Den Haag hoog op de agenda staan, soms minder ver van je bed zijn dan je misschien zou denken.
