Are you a designer, artist or developer? Are you not afraid to open, break or rethink software and hardware concepts and like to reflect and research the ethical consequences that arise in our contemporary information society? Sign up for the third edition of the Hackers & Designers Summer Academy!

During the summer of 2017 Hackers & Designers invites an international group of ambitious participants to learn by creating, researching, and discussing. The program of the Hackers & Designers Summer Academy in 2017 includes a 10-day hands-on workshop program, talks and lectures lead by well versed talented educators and professionals skilled at teaching and sharing information of their own research and practice to groups of individuals who are self-initiators, curious and innovative in their fields.

The 2-week workshop program concludes with an exhibition in which the participants will be able to present the results created during the Summer Academy, next to works of curated artist, designers and makers. The Summer Academy will be accompanied by a public lecture program.

This year with: Things Network (Netherlands), Gottfried Haider (Austria), Sarah Garcin (France), Bongani Ricky Masuku (Zimbabwe), Center for Genomic Gastronomy (US, Norway, Portugal) & Sjef van Gaalen (Netherlands).

–All workshops are accessible for both the tech-savvy and the newbie nerds.

OPEN CALL POSTER COMPETITON GRAPHIC MATTERS

A great opportunity to be a part of the upcoming Graphic Matters (formerly known as Graphic Design Festival Breda) that will take place in Breda from September 22nd till October 22nd this year.

Take part in the poster competition with as theme this year:

Shut Up Speak Up!

A professional jury will choose fifty posters.
These posters will be shown during Graphic Matters.
Five winners will receive a VIP experience including overnight stay and travel budget.

MINOR PRESENTATIONS - This week fourth year students of all depts. including Graphic Design will be exhibiting their final Minor projects.

These projects are connected to one of three Practices – AUTONOMOUS PRACTICE, SOCIAL PRACTICE and COMMERCIAL PRACTICES. One can learn more about the practices here: http://reinvented.wdka.nl/

But equally good is to go and check out the work made in the minors this year. If as a 2nd year student you're still doubting what direction to choose, make use of this opportunity to see work and talk to students. As a 1st or 3rd year student, it's just as relevant!
And as an interested "outsider" - by all means come and take a look!

Renate Boere, onze collega en docente aan de WdKA werkt aan de publicatie "Ik vraag u iets meer lef te tonen". Een bijzonder verslag waar vanuit een persoonlijk perspectief zichtbaar wordt gemaakt hoe uiteenlopend, aan het toeval overgeleverd, intensief, veelkoppig, onvoorspelbaar en avontuurlijk het ontwerp proces kan zijn. Van initiatie tot realisatie. De door Renate gedeelde ervaringen, al zijn ze persoonlijk, zijn relevant en zinvol voor alle ontwerpers van nu.
Een must have voor iedereen die zelf een project wil starten

Na het lanceren van de crowdfunding voor mijn boek ‘Ik vraag u iets meer lef te tonen’ heb ik al veel steun mogen ontvangen. Veel dank hiervoor! Er zijn al 49 donateurs. De kop is eraf, maar ik ben er nog lang niet. Daarom is jouw steun zo belangrijk!

Koop mijn boek via de crowdfunding voor maar 19,- euro (Daarna voor 25,-). Dus wees er snel bij want OP=OP.
