How advertising is the future as we enter into a world. A recent survey by GumGum finds that 49% of marketers are looking to use contextual advertising to replace cookies in their efforts.

“This study proves that while many advertisers are aware of contextual capabilities to address the cookieless-future, there is still a great deal of education needed around contextual of the past, technology based on keywords, and the next generation of contextual, which can fully understand all the signals in digital environments”, states GumGum.

As we head into 2022, Eric Visser shared his predictions for next year with Mediashotz, not only around the consolidation of the industry but also around the focus we will see on attention. “...There will be a continued rise of Attention based buying and reporting. In turn, Attention based metrics will be established in mainland Europe.”

Eric believes that this renewed focus on attention will lead to a return to the classic Attention, Interest, Desire and Action model for advertisers. He believes a clear measurement system for attention will allow for clearer and more effective ad measurement within our industry.

GumGum - the leading platform for contextual technology that acquired JustPremium earlier this year, has announced the acquisition of Australian- based attention and optimization platform PLAYGROUND XYZ.

In a future without personal data or the cookie, we believe that digital advertising will come down to The Mindset Matrix - Creative, Context, and Consumer Attention.
