Do you have an Oval body shape, or an Apple body shape and find it difficult to find clothes that fit nicely?

Oval or Apple shapes can be slightly more challenging. Options are fewer, but it doesn't mean you won't find clothes that fit you beautifully.

Do you have an Hourglass body shape, and yet do not know how to dress your naturally balanced silhouette?

There is someone else that I would like to highlight in this post.

Someone commented on one of my previous body shape posts. She asked "why not have pictures of people in the actual shape you are trying to describe, not models"

It's very relevant for many to know, so I'm sharing it here the reasons:

- You can't determine body shape by a posing photo. For doing an online style consultation for example, client would need to wear tight gym clothes and stand in the right position, from front, side and back.

- Here I'm giving suggestions on what would naturally work the best for a particular bodyshape. It doesn't mean you can only dress in one bodyshape. So it's rather a guide to avoiding big mistakes than a rule.

- Suggestions are based on the clothing silhouette and cut, and the bodyshape of that model does not matter. The tests in the post are the key, the pictures are just visualization support.

- Do know that bodyshape is just one of the traditional way to help with clothing choice, there is still a big difference between each body, the height, weight, the body proportions etc. These are not to be generalized, and they are the important elements that will be addressed during a consultation.

👉This is also the reason that shopping based on what looks good on others without understand what works for you can lead to a huge disappointment.

Doing a colour consultation is like having an energy boost drink. 😍The time is always filled with laughter, and I get to see so many beautiful smiles on lovely ladies from around the world.

👱🏻‍♀️Caroline originally comes from SA, and lives and works in Poland currently. She was visiting the Netherlands for Lady Gaga's concert, and here she is in my studio!

I'm always impressed by how clients like her find me, have trust in me, and put the time and effort to pay a visit and invest in themselves.

She said she knows exactly what she is looking for, but with my low SEO ranking I know she must have spent quite some time searching. I'm so grateful.

In this post I will walk through the inverted triangle shape, which is the opposite of the triangle shape from the last post.👇

Again, knowing your body shape is not about categorising yourself into one group. The key is to understand what would fit most comfortably for you.

It doesn't actually matter what size you are. Body shape is all about the relationship between lines, and how to create harmony while feeling comfort and looking appropriate.

If you have an inverted body shape, it's quite easy to dress into a different shape like an hourglass if you like, but that shouldn't be the goal. When you find a clothing silhouette that's designed for your body shape, you will feel most comfortable, and you can only feel confident if you are comfortable.

All body shapes are beautiful, but not all shapes have an equal chance to find perfectly fitting clothes. As the most common female body shape, the rectangle shape definitely has the most choices.

A lot of brands design their clothing lines for a rectangle body shape, and for a curvy body they would often need tailoring to fit nicely.

Nevertheless, if you don’t know what clothes to choose and what to avoid, it still can be frustrating when shopping. Even if you have a body shape that's rather easy to be dressed, such as rectangle body shape.

You would need to consider the style of the frame, its colour, shape, size, material, the fit, comfort and the price of course.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These guidelines are made considering normal daily use. If you use your eyeglasses purely as an accessory, or it serves as a part of your distinctive and expressive personality, like inspiring fashion icon .apfel - where ‘more is more and less is a bore’, of course none of these guidelines apply.

I don't recommend purchasing eye frames online. In fact, it's one of the few things that I would never purchase online. Even if you know your prescription, I recommend you to visit your local optician to make sure it's adjusted to the optimal comfort level for your eyes. ears, nose, and make sure the focal point is correct.

Are you always overwhelmed by the sales or just shopping in general? 💰🏷

It is possible to avoid being blown away or trapped into spending money buying clothes that you actually don’t need. Indeed, an impulse purchase that we may regret later is wise to avoid.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Of course it’s great to get some special bargains, but not if you will only wear them once or twice, and have your wardrobes cluttered up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are a few tips from me that can serve as a checklist before you hit that purchase button:

▢ Can the new item be easily worn with many other items you have already in your wardrobe?
e.g If you can’t easily think of 3-5 ways to wear it, don’t buy it if you have nothing else to go with it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▢ Would this piece make you feel happy and confident when you put it on?
e.g. Don’t buy anything just because you see it everywhere or it looks good on someone else.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▢ Is the quality good enough to last for a few years?
e.g. Don’t buy clothes that will be only worn for a season
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▢ Check the care instruction, does the effort make sense?
e.g. I will never buy pants or tops that require professional dry-clean.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▢ Is it something that you actually really love, and you would have paid the full price even if it’s not on sale?
e.g. Never buy it only because of the price.

If you don't get 5 Yes-es, it won't be a good piece to get, you don't need it. 😉
