We would like to welcome you all to our next opening "A Pulsating Disequilibrium" on Saturday from 7 p.m by Samoa Remy.

6 large silkscreen prints contemplate the relationship between humans and the Earth, by focusing specifically on the topics of air, atmosphere, and breath, as ineluctable essences of life. In this project, two photographs from WW1, distorted by the artist, are the starting points for a process of transformation and dissolution.

By revealing invisible energy, such as the transmission and detection of signals from the Universe, or passages from one medium to another with a progressive estrangement from nature, Samoa Remy aims to highlight the processes on which life depends, and the invertibility of energetic processes.

By playing with the encounter between materials and oscillations between the static and dynamic, flatness and volume, she aims to create a movement similar to a respiratory process.

Samoa Remy is a visual artist working with various medias, approaching themes like science, spirituality, alchemy, ecology and sound / music in a transdisciplinary way.

At the core of her artistic practice, she holds the idea that everything which exists has a common origin. With this as a point of departure, she aims to create artworks / installations where seemingly disparate elements and entities all interrelate and form part of an energetic whole.

BEING PILLAR.
CARRYING ITS OWN CONTOUR AS WATER, FALLING
Mari Slaattelid, 29.11.25 - 25.01.26

Two different images are juxtaposed in the exhibition:

Pillar figures, which stretch from floor to ceiling, and the sharply defined contour of white waterfall against a black mountainside.

The five large works are silkscreen prints. Six smaller waterfalls are painted on paper.

The image I call Pillar Figure depicts human figures from art history. One is a caryatid, a classical pillar in the form of a female figure from around 430 B.C. The others are young girls painted by Munch around 1905. The figures are photocopied from books, cut out, and taped to form collages. These are then transposed to silkscreen and printed.

The three young girls from modern times have the same frontal, free-standing pose as the pillar figure from the Acropolis. Standing in her place, they are given a kind of task. They too are suddenly classical. With hats and aprons, they become solid stanchions of support. They belong to art history, but are also nature and human, which makes the weight they bear unrecognizable.

Those who carry the weight of a beam on their heads disclose a critical point where forces meet. One day the pillar will fall, but not yet. At one point a flowing river tips over in the landscape into a free fall. There it freezes into its own contour, a white pillar on the mountainside.
