परम पूज्य दिल्गो ख्येन्चे रिन्पोछेको जन्म सन् १९१० मा पूर्वी तिब्बतको डेन्खोक उपत्यकामा नवौं शताब्दीका राजा ठिस्रोङ देउचेनको राजकीय वंशज परिवारमा भएको थियो। उहाँ आफ्नै आमाको गर्भमा छँदा नै महान गुरु मिफाम रिन्पोछेद्वारा एक असाधारण अवतारका रूपमा पहिचान दिनुभएको थियो।

सामान्यतया अवतार वा पुनर्जन्मको पहिचान बालबालिका जन्मेपछि वा अलि ठूलो भएपछि गरिन्छ। तर दिल्गो ख्येन्चे रिन्पोछेको हकमा उहाँ नजन्मिँदै, आमाको पेटमा छँदै मिफाम रिन्पोछे जस्ता महान गुरुले उहाँको उच्च आध्यात्मिक क्षमता र पुनर्जन्मलाई पहिचान गर्नुभएको थियो। यसले उहाँको आध्यात्मिक महत्व कति ठूलो थियो भन्ने देखाउँछ।
His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche was born in 1910 in Denkhok Valley, eastern Tibet, to a family descended from the royal lineage of the ninth century King Trisong Detsen. While still in his mother's womb, he was recognized by the great master Mipham Rinpoche as an extraordinary incarnation.
Generally, the recognition of a reincarnation or an incarnation takes place after a child is born or when they grow a bit older. However, in the case of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, even before he was born, while he was still in his mother's womb, a great master like Mipham Rinpoche recognized his high spiritual capacity and reincarnation. This demonstrates how immense his spiritual significance was.
