Situated on a rocky outcrop on Galway Bay, Dunguaire Castle may not be the biggest castle in the country but it has certainly seen its fair share of Irish History. Built in 1520 on the site of an even older ancient Gaelic castle, it was at the heart of the Irish literary revival in the early twentieth century. Past inhabitants and lodgers include Oliver St John Gogarty, WB Yeats, George Bernard Shaw and Lady Gregory. Nowadays, visitors can pay to experience a medieval banquet in the castle hall 😀

This colourful piece captures the castle at high tide, perched on its promontory and surrounded by water on three sides.

Another iconic Irish building and the oldest operational lighthouse in the world, Hook Lighthouse is a must see if you are travelling in the south east. What an incredible view of the ocean from the top, and not a bad photo opportunity at the bottom either! Perched on the end of the Hook Peninsula in County Wexford, the keepers in the lighthouse have been warning sailors of the treacherous rocks here for over 800 years.

What an incredible piece of Irish History - the site of sieges, battles and triumphs dating back to Viking times. There was so much to capture in this famous scene of St John’s Castle in Limerick, it was hard to do it justice. I’ve used a bit of artistic licence to try and squeeze everything in - the spire of St Munchin’s Church rising from behind the colourful buildings on Castle Street, the imposing battlements and storehouse of the castle itself, and the waters of the Shannon flowing under Thomond Bridge.

I’ve journeyed to the sunny South East with this artwork, featuring Reginald’s Tower and the colourful buildings along Parade Quay on the banks of the River Suir in Waterford. I really love the colour contrast on the buildings in this part of Waterford.

Here's my latest abstract work, an interpretation of an Irish town. I had a bit of fun making this one, playing around with shapes and colours to see what would work.

Standing sentry on the Burren limestone for thousands of years, Poulnabrone Dolmen is one of the most iconic and photographed landmarks in Ireland. Dolmens of all shapes and sizes are dotted all over the Irish landscape and they are one of those structures that are always associated with Ireland, providing us with a vivid link to our ancient past. It is awe-inspiring to simply stand beside these stones and try to imagine how they were constructed without the help of any machines.

I’ve come home to Inishowen with my latest artwork, which features the distinctive tabletop of Glashedy Island as viewed from the rolling waves on Pollen Strand. Glashedy used to be a hideout for making Poitin and has even been used for sheep grazing. The island has given its name to the nearby links course at Ballyliffin, where the 2018 Irish Open was played.

What would I give to have a walk along this beach now!

This artwork features Blackrock Castle on the banks of the River Lee in Cork. The original castle was built to deter pirates and invaders entering the harbour, which is a far cry from its current use as an observatory and museum! Visitors to the castle today can learn about the universe and also the history of the castle itself, then head to the amazing Castle Cafe for a bite to eat.

My new artwork features one of the unmistakable brightly coloured kiosks dotted along the seafront at Bray. These kiosks will bring back happy memories for all those holidaymakers and day-trippers to the town, spending long hazy summer days lounging on the promenade or going for a dip in the ocean.

The vibrant coloured doors of Dublin’s Georgian buildings have become an iconic and immediately recognisable emblem of the city. If you’ve ever taken a walk around Merrion Square, Fitzwilliam Square and the surrounding areas will have shuffled past a hundred and more of these "Doors of Dublin". Some are plain with muted colours while others have half a dozen letterboxes, golden plaques and doorbells as “bling”. I’ve chosen red for my door, but it could just as easily be a dozen other colours too - there’s so many to choose from!

One of the most photogenic bays in Ireland, Keem Bay is situated on the western end of Achill Island. Anyone who has taken the winding road over the mountain to get to this spot will know that the journey is definitely worth it! The golden strand is flanked by steep cliffs on either side, and the beach even has a Blue Flag for those brave souls to go for a dip in the ocean.

My artwork captures the bay on a gloriously sunny and calm day, with one of the old fishery buildings in the foreground.
