And now it's official :)
We are beyond thrilled to announce some very exciting news!!
The book 'Project Kiwi' has just been released nationwide. Penguin Random House NZ have published 208 pages of rich, full-colour photographs interspersed with wild yarns, encapsulating Warwick Wilsons history as well as how his passion for the land hatched New Zealand's first community kiwi sanctuary.
Penguin have summarised the book perfectly:
“Over the last 20 years, Project Kiwi has become the 'poster child' of community conservation, controlling pests and predators that could harm vulnerable birds. Warwick Wilson is the man at the heart of this endeavour. It's his glorious coastal property that is home to the project and his unflinching love for the land - as well as his full-throttle approach to life - that have helped ensure its success.
This unique story brings together a curious little flightless creature and a cast of utterly dedicated Kiwi characters who are intent on saving our beloved national bird.”
Not only is this beautiful book incredibly dear to our own hearts, we think this book is the perfect read for many kiwis who have a passion for the great outdoors, conservation initiatives or learning about our national icon -the Kiwi bird. Equally, readers simply wanting to read about characterful New Zealanders who have enjoyed long Coromandel summers and equally as mad friendships in a place where innovation and improvisation are valued will find many a good yarn.
We cannot thank author Sue Hoffart enough. Your words have encapsulated the essence of the story, dream, and project perfectly.
Similarly, Jake Morgan has expertly captured the beauty and character of Waitaia from behind his lens. This book boasts many glorious photos.
“Project Kiwi” is available for purchase from all leading bookstores; Online and instore.
