The last couple of weeks have been incredibly busy, so today it was nice to finally slow down for a moment.

Earlier this week I travelled to Tākaka to work alongside the Tasman District Council and a local iwi group on a cultural monitoring programme researching natural solutions to manage the ever-increasing German wasp population.

Within 24 hours of finishing there I was on the east coast of South Marlborough in the small settlement of Kekerengu, where a local company is helping pioneer Aotearoa’s medicinal cannabis industry with their state-of-the-art facility and farm.

The next day took me to one of my favourite places in the world, the Tasman Lakes, to capture a group of wāhine harvesting natural resources for toi Māori.
We started at Lake Rotoiti gathering tōitoi, then drove about 45 minutes to Lake Rotoroa to harvest raupō. We finished the day high up on the St Arnaud Ranges, amongst the clouds, harvesting tikumu (mountain daisy).

Today wrapped up the week at Wairau Bar with our Rangitāne Rangatahi Wānanga, who had travelled earlier in the day to Meretoto.

This work never really gets old. I’m often reminded of that when I finally get a chance to sit down and review the footage and images from the week.

One of the more unusual places I get to film is out at Puro.

Over the last few years I’ve been lucky enough to be invited out on a number of occasions to capture some of the remarkable work they’re doing in the medicinal cannabis industry.

It’s always an exciting place to shoot because it’s so different from most projects I work on. Turning up on site and seeing acres of cannabis growing in such a stunning setting still feels a little surreal every time.

Credit to the team at Puro for persisting and pioneering in an industry that didn’t even exist here not that long ago. Their work is helping build something that promises a big future — not just for their own company, but potentially for many others as well.

Always appreciate the opportunity to document work like this.

Here is a link to the last video i did for Puro on instagram...

Several weeks ago Rangitāne o Wairau launched their new tuakiritanga/brand identity. The Loud Noise Media team have been involved with with this project and have helped with the visual storytelling.

This video is a continuation of this project, helping to provide both context and further understanding of the kaupapa.

LOUD NOISE MEDIA | BRING THE NOISE!

Proud to share this.

Today Rangitāne o Wairau release their new brand identity — a story grounded in whakapapa, whenua, and ahi kā.

It’s been a privilege for Loud Noise Media to bring this kaupapa to screen for Rangitāne o Wairau.

Also a big mihi to design firm, The Guardians. Their mahi helping to shape the new brand identity showed exactly why they are a world-class, award-winning design studio. Their depth of thinking, care, and clarity set the foundation for everything that followed.

This isn’t just a video.
It’s a living expression of identity, continuity, and home — shaped through collaboration, trust, and respect.

Mauri ora to Rangitāne o Wairau and everyone who contributed to this journey.
