OKINAWA-TE NEW ZEALAND's authentic national head instructor John Flavell, sinks the fake self imposed head instructor Mary Patu and her supporters in this devastating Post.
Flavell currently still remains the arts one and only certified black belt to have honestly sat an 8th Dan black belt examination in the art, complete the three week grading examination and successfully passed it, which he did in 2023.
Flavell now 60 years of age, is not known for his political correctness these days and despite some health issues still steps on the mat for kumite just like everyone else without hesitation. Stating, if you're not prepared to put your body on the line and lead by example, perhaps you should stick to just teaching in a manner so you're not in harms way. And leave real training to those who can demonstrate applications as they are intended, real Karate.
Note, this will upset some.. but I don't give a dam, if you can't handle the truth it doesn't say much for your character, so everyone needs to know the truth, not my truth, just the gods honest truth! Don't bother crying about it like a baby because that's not a me problem, it's totally a you problem, so grow up and deal with it!
Flavell stated that his mother Mary Patu only passed her physical Shodan examination in 1991 under Gordon Alcazar Doversola, and was later on certified with an honory nidan by Flavell himself on merit of service alone. Patu has never sat nor passed a physical Dan grading since 1991 so how is she possibly qualified to assume a position higher than her knowledge and experience, especially when only one instructor under Gordon Alcazar Doversola was promoted to New Zealand national head instructor, that instructor being John Flavell.
Flavell continued by saying, you can believe the lies as much as you want but the truth will always be there to remind everyone of yours and the arrogance of the American instructors like Triplet and Helms, both of whom promoted themselves from 5th Dan to a ridiculous 9th Dan after Doversola's death, clearly demonstrates just how far Gordon Alcazar Doversola's Okinawa-Te Karate art has fallen from any respectful status it may have earned while Doversola was alive.
Flavell slammed the final nail in the coffin, saying I study martial arts not for political purposes but because I am determined to protect myself and those I care about.. and since none of my back stabbing siblings are worthy, they can all go to hell.
I earned my ranks and positions of office by working my ass off, bleeding, breaking bones, putting my mind body and soul on the line every step of the way, nothing was gifted nor handed to me as everyone knows who was present.
So I say f**k off to the fakers just like my mother Mary Patu, who couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag in their lives depended on it, let alone teach anyone to save themselves.
The applications of the Okinawa-Te art work when applied in the right situation. Most people in Okinawa-Te still don't get this principal because their instructors are clues and have failed to grasp this very basic fundamental. Practicing in the safe environment of the dojo does not honestly test your skills in a real confrontation, unless you're training in semi to full contact kumite with minimum limitations of rules, you're going to get a realistic, unhealthy awakening, because in real altercations there's only one rule, survive!
For those studying Gordon Alcazar Doversola's Okinawa-Te Karate, if you really wanna learn effective Okinawa-Te Karate as I was taught personally by Mike Lee and Gordon Alcazar Doversola, come look me up. Or If you wanna play sports Karate and pretend you can protect yourself, keep doing what you're doing.
I'm very much old school but wiser, smarter and backed by real life experiences outside of the dojo.
In training you give it everything, or don't bother wasting my time, it's that simple.
Modern Dojo's, unlike those I first started training in, operate on a numbers principle not a quality principle, the more students, the higher the revenue made, while quality may have been the principal objective initially when it comes to dojo's expanding, without increasing student numbers their business fails and dies.
Gordon Alcazar Doversola was the brains behind starting the Okinawa-Te Aranui dojo, and I was the one who made it happen, not my mother Mary Patu, me!! Just because she stole my dojo, doesn't make her a better person or martial artist, it just shows her up for being a selfish vandictive woman who only cares about advancing herself in a status she was never worthy of while Gordon Alcazar Doversola was alive, and still isn't to this very day!
You want an apology, step onto the dojo mat and make me!! Just remember this one thing before you do. I still train passionately and have never stopped learning how to physically break people, said Flavell. So when you're ready, come test your resolve!
