Gordon Alcazar Doversola Shodai Sōke also commonly referred to as Shihan, yet a title far beneath his actual status as Okinawa-Te's founding grandmaster which is what Shodai Sōke translates to.
In this photo we look back at the turning point where the Okinawa-Te Aranui Dojo's certified founding instructor John William Flavell Sensei is officially promoted and appointed by Gordon Alcazar Doversola Shodai Sōke to the position of New Zealands National Head (Chief) instructor on September 30 1995, a position that was never afforded to any other Okinawa-Te Karate Organization instructor during Gordon Alcazar Doversola's lifetime.
This makes John Flavell an extremely unique member of the Okinawa-Te art, irrespective of his status of protègè under the grandmaster, a position Doversola refilled with Flavell from his previous protègè.
Flavell remains the nation head instructor of New Zealand, and Southern Hemisphere, and while there still remains no legitimate equal or senior ranked instructor serving at his level and status within The Okinawa-Te Karate Organization who hasn't self promoted themselves, Flavell makes no apologies for staying the path and commiting his loyalty and respect of Gordon Alcazar Doversola's wish's after the Doversola's own American based 5th degree black belts self promoted to an unworthy 9th degree black belt. Flavell has made it clear he will not bow down to impostures, nor anyone who supports the arrogant insanity for ranks that were never earned honestly but to gain a positive of artificial empowerment.
Flavell Hanshi has said, the one truth that no one can escape is death! Honesty will return after the foolish have passed on. That is the way of the world, and those who choose corruption are limited like the sand in an hour glass, their time is nearing an end and when the truth breaks through the clouds of corruption again history will once again embrace honesty.
