✨ A little everyday styling inspiration…

Sometimes the simplest outfits are the ones that work the hardest.

A favourite blazer, plain shirt, jeans and a few carefully chosen accessories — classic pieces that can be mixed and matched in so many ways.

For me, personal style isn’t about following every trend. It’s about understanding what works for you - your colouring, your shape, your lifestyle and, most importantly, how you want to feel in your clothes.

And apparently, I have a very discerning member of the styling team to keep me on track. 😂🐾

Max, our resident influencer, has given this look his official approval. Although I suspect he’s more interested in whether there are treats involved. 😉

What are the pieces in your wardrobe that you can always rely on?

Pre-shopping for a client today 🛍

And no, I'm not out shopping for myself! 😉

I don't actually buy anything. I simply do the legwork - finding all the pieces I think my client will love, based on her style personality, lifestyle and budget, which I already know from our Style Consultation.

By pre-shopping, I save my clients hours of trawling through shops, trying on things that aren't quite right and wondering what on earth to buy.

Instead, when we shop together, everything is there for a reason. It's focused, easy and, most importantly... fun!

My clients absolutely love it - and honestly, I love seeing the transformation when they realise just how easy shopping can be when someone really gets your style.

If you want to find the perfect pieces, have fun shopping and feel fantastic in what you wear, I'd love to hear from you ❤️

Going grey... apparently via brunette 😂.

I decided to grow out my blonde and embrace the grey. Simple, right?

Well... nobody told my hair 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Instead of emerging as the stylish silver-haired woman I had envisaged, I seem to be going through a rather brunette phase.

As a personal stylist and colour analyst, I spend my days talking about colour, contrast and what works with your natural colouring... so you'd think I'd be better prepared for my own hair's little identity crisis! 😂

The funny thing is, your hair colour doesn't determine your best colours - that's where colour analysis comes in. Your natural colouring, undertone and overall contrast are what really matter.

Sor for now, I'm embracing the brunette-ish, blonde-ish, grey-ish situation... and letting mother nature do her thing.

Who knew going grey could be such a long-winded colour analysis? 😉

I'M A FRAUD.

I'm a personal stylist.

I write blogs telling women to embrace their style.

I post about clothes, colour, confidence and finding the things that make you feel fabulous.

I tell women they don't need to look younger.

That they don't need to hide their bodies.

That they shouldn't apologise for taking up space.

That they should wear the things they love.

And sometimes...

I DON'T DO ANY OF THOSE THINGS MYSELF.

Sometimes I'm at home in old clothes, no makeup, hair a mess, looking anything but stylish.

And occasionally I'll go out like that too.

There.

I've said it.

I'M A FRAUD.

Or at least, that's how I've been feeling.

But then I started thinking about what being a personal stylist actually means.

And I realised something.

I've been confusing "being a stylist" with "performing being a stylist".

I thought perhaps I should always look polished.

Always have my hair done.

Always wear makeup.

Always be wearing something fabulous.

Because what would people think if they saw the stylist looking like THAT?

But here's the thing.

I'M A WOMAN BEFORE I'M A STYLIST.

And sometimes I'm tired.

Sometimes I can't be bothered.

Sometimes I'm working at home and nobody but Max 🐾 is going to see me.

Sometimes I just want to put on my comfiest clothes, forget about mascara and get on with my day.

And I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

BUT SOMETHING ELSE IS TRUE.

When I DO make an effort, I feel different.

Not better.

Not younger.

Not more worthy.

Just... DIFFERENT.

I stand a little taller.

I feel more awake.

I notice myself in the mirror.

I might put on my favourite lipstick, my Valentino earrings, or a jacket that makes me feel fantastic.

And suddenly I remember:

OH YES! THERE SHE IS!

Maybe that's what I've been trying to tell my clients all along.

Style isn't about looking perfect.

It's not about performing femininity.

It's not about being "done" every time you leave the house.

And it's certainly not about dressing to prove something to somebody else.

IT'S ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL WHEN YOU SEE YOURSELF.

SO PERHAPS I'M NOT A FRAUD AFTER ALL.

Perhaps being a stylist doesn't mean I have to walk around looking like an advert for my own business.

Perhaps I can be the woman who sometimes spends the day in old jeans and no makeup AND the woman who puts on a fabulous outfit and feels absolutely bloody wonderful.

Both are me.

And maybe that's actually the message I want to give my clients.

You don't have to become a different woman.

You don't have to reinvent yourself.

You don't have to dress up every day.

You don't even have to love fashion.

But if you've lost a little connection with yourself somewhere along the way, CLOTHES CAN HELP YOU FIND IT AGAIN.

That's what I do.

I help women look at themselves differently.

Not because there's something wrong with them.

But because sometimes we need reminding of what's already there.

So yes.

I'm a personal stylist who sometimes looks like a slob.

I'm a woman who doesn't always feel fabulous.

I'm someone who occasionally gives myself exactly the same excuses I hear from my clients.

And you know what?

I'm okay with that.

Because I'm not here to teach women how to be perfect.

I'm here to help them feel like THEMSELVES.

And perhaps I'm not a fraud after all.

Perhaps I'm just human.

Tracy xx

Given the amount of interest I had in my Mascara post, I thought I'd tell you about my favourite foundations . 🤍

As a Personal Stylist, I spend a lot of time talking about colour, but getting your foundation right is just as important as choosing the right clothes.

✨ BareMinerals Original Foundation (Pressed Powder)

Some people say mature skin should avoid powder foundations because they can look drying. Personally, I haven’t found that at all.

The key is preparing your skin well. I moisturise thoroughly, apply a good primer, then use the pressed powder. It gives a beautiful, natural finish, it’s buildable, and it’s packed with skin-loving minerals.

💰 Around $80–85, so it’s definitely an investment, but mine lasts for ages.

✨ L’Oréal True Match Foundation

If I’m after more coverage, this is my go-to.

It gives excellent coverage without feeling heavy, and one of my favourite tricks is mixing a little with my moisturiser for those days when I just want a lighter, fresher look.

💰 Usually around $32–38, making it a fantastic affordable option.

One thing I love about both of these foundations is that they come in Warm, Neutral and Cool undertones.

That’s incredibly important because the wrong undertone can make your complexion look dull, tired or unnatural, even if the depth of colour is correct.

If you’ve ever stood in the makeup aisle wondering which shade to choose… you’re definitely not alone!

💛 And if you’re not sure whether your skin tone is warm, cool or neutral, that’s exactly the sort of thing we determine during a Colour Analysis. Once you know your undertone, choosing foundation, clothing and even jewellery becomes so much easier.

Have you tried either of these foundations? I’d love to know what you think—or tell me your favourite! ✨

A quick update…

After sharing my reel about the Rumi mascara (which I genuinely loved!), I discovered that they don’t currently ship to New Zealand.

I honestly didn’t realise this when I accepted the collaboration, so thank you to those who pointed it out.

I only ever want to recommend products that are genuinely useful to this community, so I wanted to let you know.

If Rumi ever expands to New Zealand, I’ll be the first to share the news because I really did love the mascara.

In the meantime, I’ll keep searching for fantastic products that are available to us here in NZ. 💛

Can we talk about lashes for a minute? 😍

I was recently gifted this mascara from Rumi Cosmetique, and I have to say... I'm genuinely impressed!

As someone who loves products that help us look and feel our best (without needing a complicated routine), this one definitely earned a place in my makeup bag.

I've shared a quick video so you can see the results for yourself. If you're curious, I've tagged Rumi Cosmetique below so you can have a look at their range.

If Rumi Cosmetique were to send me one more product to try, what should it be?

✨ EyeCorrect+ Undereye Brightener?
✨ HairMagic+ Hairline Powder?
✨ PowerBrow+ Tinted Eyebrow Gel?
✨ Something else?

Tell me below! 👇

Gifted product. As always, all opinions are my own. 💛

When did we decide that getting older meant becoming less beautiful?

Somewhere along the way, many women started believing they had an expiry date.

That once we reached 40...
50...
60...

Our job became trying to look 30 again.

We begin hiding behind black clothes.
Choosing "safe" outfits.
Avoiding photos.
Criticising the woman in the mirror more than we'd ever criticise a friend.

But what if we've been chasing the wrong goal?

Looking younger is not the goal. Looking vibrant, confident and authentically you is!

Because here's what I've learned after years of helping women transform their wardrobes...

Your wrinkles aren't the problem.

Your changing body isn't the problem.

Your age isn't the problem.

The problem is believing your worth is tied to looking younger.

The goal was never to become younger.

The goal is to become more you with every passing year.

Because confidence has no age limit.

Style has no expiry date.

And the most beautiful women I know aren't the ones who look the youngest...

They're the ones who have finally stopped apologising for their age.

✨If you're ready to stop dressing to hide and start dressing to shine, I'd love to help. Send me a message or book a complimentary phone chat, and let's create a wardrobe that celebrates the incredible woman you are today 🤍

Why your wardrobe stops working when life changes - and how to find your style againA few weeks ago I visited New York for the first time. Ken had been before, so naturally he appointed himself Chief Subway Navigator 😂. We were heading to Soho to browse the fashion boutiques - purely for research...
