Priority Communications was privileged to be the media and communications team for Adaptation Futures 2025, helping tell and share the stories of collaboration, innovation, and action from this global gathering.

Adaptation Futures is the United Nations' leading World Adaptation Science Programme (WASP) event. It is the world’s premier climate change adaptation conference.

As a team, we are passionate about protecting the environment, and sustainable business. Being part of this conference perfectly aligned with us and our values.

We were proud to stand behind people who are moving our world forward and will be taking key climate priorities to the 30th United Nations' Climate Change Conference (COP30 Brazil) next week. The conference marks ten years since the Paris Agreement was signed.

As a team of enthusiastic writers and readers, we are making the most of all the Christchurch WORD Festival has to offer this week.

Megan headed along to a great session on the state of Aotearoa’s media this afternoon, chaired by Conan Young, the University of Canterbury journalism course co-ordinator.

The top tips were radio remains strong in Aotearoa; print news will be around for a good while yet; work is being done to engage younger, more diverse audiences through off-platform strategies, including Instagram and YouTube; and to boost levels of trust, media outlets are doing more to make journalism transparent.

The overall message, that we strongly support, is that none of us should take journalism for granted in New Zealand.

We’re looking forward to attending more sessions this weekend. See you there!

Is your e-newsletter headed for the trash?

We write and design newsletter content that people actually want to read. Done well, e-newsletters can be high-value communication tools that inform, engage, and inspire readers. Done badly they’ll hit the trash much faster than you can say “wasted opportunity”.

Is yours working for you or could you do with some help?

What’s better on a cold day than cosying up on the couch with a cup of tea, a blanket, and a good book? We asked the Priority Communications’ team what page-turners they’re currently reading - here’s a snapshot of their responses:

“Diana Wichtel’s memoir, Unreel, is a wonderfully nostalgic memoir of not only her life but Kiwi TV viewing since the 1960s. A great read. If you’re interested to know more, book a ticket to hear Diana speak at the Word Festival - www.wordchristchurch.co.nz” – Michele

“I am reading, I'll Never Write My Memoirs by Grace Jones and Paul Morley. Grace Jones is an icon and one of the prominent forces of the disco era and heyday of Studio 54”. – John

“The book I enjoyed reading was, Something to Tell You, by Lucy Diamond. It was a light, easy, entertaining page turner. I stayed up much too late cosy in bed reading it.” – Suzi

The rising of Matariki signifies the beginning of the Māori New Year and is a special time in Māori culture. It is a time for giving thanks, reflecting, remembering those who have passed, and looking to the future. If you are searching for ways celebrate Matariki, here are some things you can do with your friends and whanau:

🥘 Cook and share a mid-winter feast.
✨ Get outside and try to find the Matariki cluster, or watch a movie under the stars.
🗒️ Take a moment to think about your goals, hopes and aspirations for the future.
🌿 Plan to grow a garden, or reconnect with nature.
🌌 Attend some community events that are being hosted across the motu.

Mānawatia a Matariki!
