Your Meta account can have 2FA turned on… and still lock you out.

Two-factor Authentication is a security feature designed to protect your account from unauthorised access.
But if it fails, it can also stop you.

That’s the part most people don’t think about.

Most people turn it on once and assume they’re covered. They’re not.

We’ve seen accounts with 2FA enabled…
but when it mattered, the codes never arrived.

In one case:
• 2FA was set up correctly
• But the verification codes didn’t come through
• Likely blocked by the user’s phone settings or carrier
• Result: no way to verify identity → locked out permanently

👉 Here’s the step most people skip:

Test it.

Open an incognito browser and log in fresh.
Watch exactly where your codes go (or don’t).

Then tighten your setup:
• Add a backup method (authenticator app + phone, not just one)
• Save recovery codes somewhere secure
• Make sure your number/email can actually receive Meta messages
• Remove old or unused 2FA methods

Blunt reality:
If your only 2FA method fails, Meta won’t bend the rules for you.

2FA isn’t just about security - it’s about recoverability.
If you can’t pass it, you don’t own the account.

🐶 Your dog isn't just barking. Apparently, they're talking — and AI reckons it can translate.

A Chinese company called Meng Xiaoyi has launched a wearable device that clips around your pet's neck and — using an Alibaba Cloud AI system — claims to convert your animal's sounds and movements into actual words. They're claiming 95% accuracy. 10,000 pre-orders. $1M in early backing.

Impressive? Absolutely. But here's where we put on our marketing hats — and our sceptic ones too. 🎩

Worth noting:
• No independent studies or peer-reviewed research back up the 95% claim
• Pre-orders ≠ proven product
• Pet translator apps have existed for years — mostly as novelties.

That said — the momentum is real. The technology is advancing fast. And consumers clearly want this to be true (10,000 people just voted with their wallets at $118 a pop).

What do you think — breakthrough or a gimmick? 👇

"Patient, non-judgmental, and packed with practical tips.”

That's the kind of workshop we aim to run. 🙌

Last week's Foundations of Social Media Marketing workshop brought together a great mix of local businesses and organisations — from healthcare and not-for-profit to sporting facilities and financial services.

Throughout the session, attendees explored:
✅ Meta security and proper platform setup
✅ Using AI tools while maintaining brand voice and control
✅ How the algorithms actually work
✅ What to focus on (and what to stop) & more

One of the highlights was the interaction throughout the room — participants shared experiences, asked great questions, and even supported one another by liking each other's social media pages. 👍

It made for a relaxed, collaborative atmosphere with plenty of practical takeaways along the way.

It went so well, we've already scheduled the next one — 14 October. Check Business South's events calendar to secure your spot or click the link below:

A big thank you to Business-South for hosting and to Piccolo Café for keeping everyone fuelled with delicious cinnamon scrolls and freshly baked scones.

💥Malta - First Country to Give Citizens Free ChatGPT Plus💥

While most governments are still figuring out how to regulate AI, Malta has already taken action. 🇲🇹

The country is rolling out FREE access to ChatGPT Plus for every citizen who completes an AI education course created by the University of Malta.

✅ AI training comes first
✅ Citizens get ChatGPT Plus free for 12 months
✅ The focus is on responsible, confident AI adoption at a national level

Malta is treating AI literacy as essential infrastructure — on par with internet access or digital skills training.

The countries and businesses investing in AI education now will likely have a major advantage over the next decade.

New Zealand has already invested heavily in improving digital capability through initiatives like Digital Boost.

So the real question is:
What should New Zealand be doing now to prepare businesses and workers for the AI economy?

💜 What an incredible result for Relay For Life Dunedin.💜
Our Director, Philippa, was part of the Relay for Life – a Cancer Society fundraising event held at Dunedin Stadium on 2 May. Her team, the Kung Fu Hustlers, arrived appropriately dressed in borrowed karate gis, complete with nunchucks as their baton (handcrafted by a teammate!). They kept their baton on the track for the full 10am–10pm timeframe and raised an incredible $3,500 towards vital funds supporting transport to treatment, counselling, accommodation, and cancer research.

The Dunedin Relay For Life raised over $260,000 – smashing their $200,000 target 😍

We're absolutely thrilled with this result. Cre8ive Marketing was engaged to support the marketing across the Dunedin, Christchurch, and Invercargill Relay for Life events – handling everything from Meta advertising strategy, creative concepts, design, and copywriting, to campaign launch, monitoring, and reporting. We also rebranded the Cancer Society's YouTube channel, wrote the photo and video briefs, and managed video uploads throughout the campaign.

Seeing a cause this important smash its fundraising goal makes all of that work so worthwhile. Well done to every team and supporter involved! 🧡

🥂 Cheers to our former Marketing Intern, Gabe, on his new role as Marketing Coordinator at MTF Finance — over a month in already!

Gabe was with us for three months as he completed his Graduate Diploma in Website and App Design from Otago Polytechnic.

It’s been awesome watching his growth, and even better seeing him step confidently into this next chapter. We’re proud to have been part of the journey.

Congratulations, Gabe — we’re cheering you on all the way ⭐️

Choose your side.

The dark side promises quick results — shortcuts, guesswork, and surface-level marketing that rarely lasts.

We take a different approach. Strategy first. Rigour in the work. Marketing that’s built properly, measured, and refined over time.

Because sustainable results don’t come from quick fixes — they come from getting the fundamentals right.

May the Fourth be with you.

You don’t need all the answers to start.

When it comes to marketing, most businesses don’t know what they don’t know — and that’s completely normal. Our role is to shape thinking, clarify direction, and ensure the work is built on the right foundations from the start.

That’s where having the right team around you makes all the difference.
