Flossy in the studio 🤍

Photographing children for modelling and talent submissions isn’t really about “the shot” at all. It’s about creating a space where they can relax, settle, and be themselves: no pressure, no performing.

This session was gentle and unhurried. We chatted, took breaks, and let things unfold naturally. The expressions that come through when kids feel comfortable are always the ones that matter most, calm, confident, and quietly themselves.

Everyday life at Chatuchak Market, Bangkok.
I love this little slice of regular time, friends talking, food arriving, fans whirring in the background. Shot in a documentary style, the black and white tones strip it back to pure atmosphere: rhythm, connection, and the quiet chaos of a busy street stall. People often think that travel photography is all about the insta-worthy shot, the pure unobstructed pretty view. I love the idea that you can almost smell and hear the place through the image. It's raw, unencumbered.

What do you do when you come to a market but it's choc-full of people? Embrace it. By adding movement to this image, we can feel immersed in the market atmosphere. The rustic buildings tell the history of the market and the you can almost hear the din of people going about their everyday lives.

I've been down a bit of a rabbit-hole today with kids photos. I posted my daffodil photo for this year to my personal page today and normally include a 'crack-up' photo. I firmly believe that not every photo should be perfect and we should show non-perfect photos. So, here are my 'out-takes' from some of my daffodil photos. I absolutely adore all their expressions and how each year they show their personalities. Sometimes it's coaxed or orchestrated but generally I just let them be and they just do this stuff all the time. By taking photos like this, it truly is the epitome of capturing your family in a moment of time. I enjoy these fun moments as my oldest leaves school and I wonder how many more years will I be blessed with being able to photograph all of them together here.
