Back in Motion in Dunedin now has a new website. One of it's key features is the ability to users to sign up and become members of their new On Demand Library. Here you can access and view instructional pilates videos. It's all wired into Vimeo and Stripe allowing the Back in Motion team to manage subscriptions, users and videos.

ICAN Models in Queenstown now have a new website🙂
It was well overdue and this years crazy covid winter and lockdown was the perfect time to get into it. This is Zuma's 4th time updating the ICAN website, going all the way back to the early 2000's. Last update was 7 years ago and it had no mobile friendly version. So an update was well over due.
With thousands of models and tens of thousands of images it was quite the logistical task moving over to using a Content Delivery Network (CDN) but now we're all good for another 7 years!

Last year we added a location aware function to the Hirepool website. You have the option of using your suburb or postcode, or if your device is location aware, you can just press a button to find the closest branches to you. http://www.hirepool.co.nz

In proactive preparation, for the summer heat, in December I did a round of updating my workstation's CPU heatstink and adding more and larger fans. Although it's now whisper quiet, which is great, I think I was overly optimistic about the weather.

Yesterday, Windows 10 started arriving as a free upgrade for those with Windows 7 or 8(.1). I've installed it on my laptop with no hassle, but I might hang off a bit on my main workstation. Colour me cautious I say. At any rate it looks and runs great on my ageing HP elitebook and I'm really interested to see the adoption and performance of the new 'Edge' browser. Microsoft has built their new web browser from the ground up and abandoned the venerable (and decrepit) Internet Explorer. Hurray!

Google announced in February that would be changing it's search algorithm on April 21 to penalise non-mobile friendly websites when searching on a mobile device (like your phone). How will this impact you? Well, it depends. If you rely on your search results in a competitive market you will surely suffer. Sounds like most people to me. However, mobile friendly doesn't mean you need your site to have a full blown mobile option. It could be as simple as making sure your text is large enough to be viewed on a mobile device. Google will in time push for all websites to be mobile friendly and for now everyone should be looking to move to a mobile friendly website, if not now, then in the near future.

Great article on Campbell Live last night about the happy (and delicious) pigs down on the Havoc Farm. (PS the Xmas Hams are all sold out, hope you got in fast)

Last night, Campbell Live visited the Havoc Farm near Waimate to see how On Havoc Farm, they believe that "happy hogs are healthy hogs". They use minimal intervention - no antibiotics, no growth promotants and a healthy diet of locally-grown grain with cider vinegar and garlic to keep them healthy.
