27 days until I become Mrs Neal...

An early start at Bunnings yesterday meant one thing... another morning in the garden 😂

We tidied up some paving, got more grass seed down and finally did some planting. The area we've been working on is really starting to come together and it is SO satisfying seeing the difference after all the digging, stump removal and hard work we've put into it.

After a productive morning, I enjoyed a pretty chilled afternoon before spending the evening working on some games for my hens weekend.

And with the warmer weather making a comeback, we finished the day with one of my favourite summer dinners. BBQ meat and salads just hits differently ☀️

The weather is finally looking better too, so tomorrow it's time to get back into the walking!

This week I’m MCing the New Zealand Small Business Awards 🎤

And when I actually stop and think about that, it feels pretty cool.

Six years ago I was 19, starting Ask Alice with no idea what I was doing or where it might take me. I certainly wasn’t imagining that one day I’d be standing on a stage celebrating some of New Zealand’s incredible small businesses.

But looking back, I can see all the little moments that got me here.

The first workshop. The first time I stood up and shared my story. The conferences I travelled to. The events I created. The people I met. The rooms I walked into not knowing anyone. The opportunities I said yes to before I really felt ready.

None of it happened overnight.

I didn’t suddenly wake up one day feeling confident enough to speak on stages or MC events. I built that confidence by doing things that scared me, putting myself out there and slowly backing myself a little more each year.

And there are still plenty of moments where I wonder how the heck I ended up here 😂

But this week, I’m going to take a moment to appreciate just how far 19 year old Alice has come.

Next stop, the New Zealand Small Business Awards. Let’s do this 🎤🧡

30, 29 & 28 days until I become Mrs Neal…

A little three day catch up because the rain has definitely slowed things down around here!

The walking has been put on hold thanks to the weather, but there has still been plenty happening behind the scenes.

We finally finished the last little touches on our master bedroom and I even managed to get all the furniture back in and make it feel like an actual bedroom again before a morning meeting. After weeks of painting, it feels SO good to have another room ticked off the house list 🙌

I’ve also been getting ready for a big week away at the NZ Small Business Awards and Stellar Business Event. I’ve been working through the run sheet for the awards and getting my head around everything involved in MCing such a huge event. Equal parts nervous and VERY excited 🎤

Around that I’ve been trying to keep the house somewhat tidy, squeezed in an early morning dump run with all the tree stumps and branches we’ve ripped out of the garden, and had a very chilled Saturday as I wasn’t feeling my best.

Sometimes you just need a few slower days!

Now I’m hoping the sunshine makes an appearance so I can get back outside, get some kilometres in and tackle a few more jobs before I head away 😂

31 days until I become Mrs Neal...

Started the day with a client meeting and some planning for their upcoming event, followed by a supermarket top up which somehow included a few more bits for my hens weekend 😂 I am getting VERY excited now!

Then it was home to keep working on the master bedroom. The green feature wall is looking SO good, even if it did take us 3.5 coats to get there.

The afternoon was a very exciting wedding job with my hair trial with Mum. No photos for obvious reasons 👀 but naturally that meant we had to come home and try the dress on too!

Finished the night back in work mode, tidying up my website, answering emails and creating content for both a client and myself.

The weather ruined my plans for a walk, but I think there was enough going on without squeezing that in too.

32 days until I become Mrs Neal …

Painting, painting and MORE painting 😅

It was finally time to give our master bedroom its feature wall and before anyone says it... I KNOW the colour looks a little funky going on, I promise it dries a lot darker!

Three coats and about five hours of painting later, it is looking pretty mint and we are SO close to being able to move back into our bedroom 🙌

I also squeezed in another 3.8km walk and unpacked a parcel full of some last minute wedding purchases, because there is always one more thing to buy!

34 days until I become Mrs Neal...

Today was a wedding prep day spent with Mum ✨

While Blake was busy working on our master bedroom, getting everything sealed and ready for painting, Mum and I took over the wedding jobs.

We printed photos, unpacked what feels like a million candles, worked on our marquee letters and did a dash around The Warehouse and the $2 shop for all those little bits we suddenly realised we needed.

We all managed to escape the jobs for lunch at Bollywood before I spent the evening on the couch watching TV and making little beaded charms for the cocktail glasses at my hens.

The wedding boxes are getting fuller and my hens is getting VERY close, I am so excited!

35 days until I become Mrs Neal…

Started the morning at the Gisborne parkrun and managed to improve on my 5km time set earlier this week.

There was a bit of running, plenty of walking and some very tired legs by the end, but it felt good to give something new a go.

Then it was home and straight into another kind of workout... the garden.

We tackled paving, stump removal and finally got some grass seed down, which means a few more jobs can officially be crossed off the house list 🙌

Between the walking challenge, wedding countdown and trying to get the house looking good for summer, apparently October is the month of getting things DONE.

And my legs are definitely aware of it 😂

36 days until I become Mrs Neal…

Started the day with my biggest walk yet and MAN was I pooped by the end of it 😂

Just over 9km, which is definitely the longest I have walked in a very, very long time! Safe to say my 72.44km walking challenge is well underway 💪

After that, it was home for a well deserved lunch before getting ready for an afternoon of work.

Nothing too glamorous to finish the day either.
Supermarket shopping, home for dinner and then I well and truly crashed on the couch 😂

My legs are definitely feeling it, but I'm pretty proud of how much I've been pushing myself this week!

37 days until I become Mrs Neal...

After getting my steps up yesterday, I decided I'd well and truly earned a sleep in 😂 So the day started VERY slowly with a 10am wake up before getting outside for a quick 2.5km walk.

Then it was straight into one of those back to back meeting kind of days, finishing up with our BPW Connect meeting in the evening.

But the highlight of the day was seeing 6 ticket sales come through for the Together We Rise Women in Business Conference 🙌

There is something so exciting about watching an event you've spent months working on behind the scenes slowly come to life. Every ticket sold is another person who is going to be in that room, and I am getting more excited about it by the day!

38 days until I become Mrs Neal…

and it was a BIG day on my feet!

I started with a 5.44km morning walk, the longest walk I’ve done in a very long time, and apparently that wasn’t enough because by the end of the day I had clocked up nearly 20,000 steps and 14km in total 😅

Safe to say my walking challenge is off to a pretty good start!

The rest of the day was spent getting things done, with a little bit of last minute online shopping squeezed in for the wedding and my hens weekend.

Including creating some very cute custom ch*****ne flutes for the girls on my Cricut machine 🥂

It feels like we're getting to that stage where all the little wedding bits and pieces are starting to come together.
