This week I launched Gisborne's largest Women in Business event 😱

This is something that feels like it has been brewing for a while now.

From co-creating Empower You in 2023 and 2024, to organising and MCing the BPW Conference in Auckland last year, I've seen just how powerful it can be when you bring women together in one room.

So I made the pitch to bring the next event to my hometown and create something that shows just what we can do here in Gisborne.

And I can already feel the buzz growing. I LOVE it.

There is something pretty special about watching a passion of mine for bringing women in business together go from an idea in my head to something people are now talking about, sharing on social media and making plans to attend.

It's the kind of energy that makes me excited to get out of bed in the morning.

There is still A LOT of work between now and May, and I'm sure there will be plenty of late nights and moments where I wonder what I've gotten myself into 😂 But I am here for it.

With five years of experience, Alice has helped over 300 businesses and organizations enhance their online presence, build communities, and drive consistent sales through her business Ask Alice.

We're so excited to be welcoming Alice as our MC for the NZ Small Business Awards evening!

​Alice is passionate about creating opportunities for women to connect, learn, and grow. She works in a number of spaces to uplift and empower women in business (and is planning a biz conference in Gisborne next year!).

​Alice takes pride in her extensive voluntary contributions to the community. For her work, she has been recognized as a nominee for Young New Zealander of the Year 2017, is a Kiwibank Local Hero, and a four-time recipient of the Gisborne Volunteer Centre Youth Award.

Since suffering a life-changing injury in 2018, Alice’s "why" became to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders, showing that with resilience and confidence, anyone can create their own version of success.

Alice is going to be AMAZING in leading our awards evening in October!

Together We Rise!

My best marketing ideas have never happened sitting at my desk.

They've happened while laying on the couch.

Driving home after a client meeting.

Swimming a few laps.

Walking around the house wondering what project Blake and I should tackle next.

For a long time, I thought being productive meant sitting in front of my computer for hours, waiting for inspiration to strike.

But creativity doesn't always show up when you tell it to.

Sometimes it shows up when you give your mind the space to wander.

It's funny how often I'll head outside to "take a break" and come back with a new workshop idea, a week's worth of social media content, or the solution to something I've been overthinking all morning.

Creating space isn't wasting time.

Sometimes it's the most productive thing you can do.

So if you're feeling stuck, don't force another hour at your desk.

Go for a walk.
Grab a coffee.
Take a breath.

Your next great idea might be waiting somewhere other than your office.
